It is the duty of the government to take the society forward through development of people from all walks of life. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working with a vision of building one India, best India. He is taking the nation ahead in the direction of development through timely completion of the work plans, said Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik after inaugurating 100-seated SC Girls hostel at Dr. B R Ambedkar Student’s Hostel complex near Jagannath Bari Road, Agartala today. She said, the government is working with the goal to bring the back warded people of SC community to the mainstream of the society. The government is implementing different developmental work plans of road, airways, rail connectivity, rural roads, drinking water, lavatories, housing and Prime Minister’s flagship schemes in mission mode under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She said, 30 SC populated villages of the state have been nominated to transform those into Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram. Additional 20 lakh rupees has been approved for providing different facilities for overall development of the villages. Under the central scheme of Babu Jagjiban Ram scheme, 50-seated and 100-seated hostels for boys and girls at 50:50 ration will be constructed and will be repaired according to the requirement.
Mos for Social Justice & Empowerment said, the government is sincere towards providing education to SC students. The duration of Safai Welfare scholarship for the SCs, OBCs and Divyangjans has been extended to one month. Along with that, the government is also working towards developing skills in students to help them become self-reliant in future. She also said, the central government has kept 35,500 crore rupees in the budget of five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26 for Post-Matric and Pre-Matric stipends to SC students.
Mos for Social Justice & Empowerment said, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar has contributed hugely towards taking the nation and the entire mankind ahead. The wave of his voice for education in India is still continued. Training centre has been formed uniting 35 central universities with the initiative of the Prime Minister so that the back warded students of SC community could achieve success in competitive exams. The central government has increased the overseas stipend quota from 60 to 125. Top school to Top College stipend has been started for SC students. She also said, 10 thousand rupees has been granted to street vendors in low interest during Covid-19 pandemic under Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana. Presently that has been increased to 50 thousand rupees. The government is providing identity documents to street vendors and has created street vendor zones for those who sell tea, pakodas and pani puris etc.. The government is working to take the people ahead. She hoped for everyone’s cooperation in building one Tripura, best Tripura.
Welcome speech was delivered by Secretary of SC Welfare department Abhishek Chandra. He said, the 100-seated Girls Hostel has been constructed at the cost of 3.76 crore rupees. Apart from that, Smart Class, computer lab, library and indoor games will be arranged for girls in coming days. MLA Dr. Dilip Das also spoke on the occasion. The programme was presided over by Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar.
