The festival has added a colourful and spiritual character to the city, with devotees gathering at decorated puja venues to welcome Lord Ganesha. The celebrations have also marked the early beginning of a festive period that will reach its biggest peak next month with Durga Puja, the most significant festival for Bengalis. With preparations for Durga Puja already beginning in various parts of the city, Ganesh Chaturthi has provided an early opportunity for people to come together and participate in religious and cultural activities.
Among the prominent Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Agartala are those organised by Ganapati Samajik Sanstha, Ekdanta Club and Grassroot Samajik Sanstha at Jackson Gate. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the three puja celebrations on Sunday evening in the presence of devotees, organisers and local residents.
The inauguration ceremonies attracted a significant gathering, with the puja venues illuminated and decorated for the occasion. Devotional songs and other festive activities added to the atmosphere as people visited the pandals to offer prayers and participate in the celebrations.
