Three days after his sudden resignation and two days after the new ministry was formed with Dr Manik Saha as the Chief Minister the Biplab Kumar Deb kicked off organizational activities from his constituency Banamalipur as the BJP sought to clarify the confusion as to why he quit the coveted post.

The BJP in a press conference said that Deb was relieved from the position of the Chief Minister to take the rein of the organization.

BJP vice president Rajib Bhattacharjee said, Deb would now lead the party and strengthen it further before the ensuing assembly elections.

“The central leadership wanted him to come to the helm of party affairs and so he resigned. He played the lead role in bringing the BJP into power routing the Left Front. In 2023 also he would be leading the party”, Bhattacharjee said.

“Biplab Deb is the man behind BJP’s victory in 2018. Now, the central leadership wants Biplab Deb to spend more time in organizational activities for the mission 2023,” Bhattacharjee told the reporters.
Bhattacharjee also said, as a party leader he feels that Dr. Manik Saha is the perfect choice for the Chief Minister’s post.
Under the leadership of the duo– Biplab Kumar Deb in organization and Dr. Manik in the government, the state would see more progress, Bhattacharjee added.

In what seemed to be a concerted move Deb also at the same time kick started political activities in full scale.

Attending an organization meeting on Tuesday at his constituency in Banamalipur the former Chief Minister, “I am not going anywhere. From now, I have devoted my activities wholly to organizational matters”. He also stressed the need to ensure that more benefits of the Central and State Governments reach the common people.

The meeting witnessed emotional moments as many party workers were seen breaking down while interacting with Deb as they failed to come to terms with his departure from the Chief Minister’s position.

Outlining his plans, Deb said, he would reach to every corner of the State to get a ground-level experience relating to the implementation of welfare schemes of the Governments and remove the bottlenecks.

“My priority is to strengthen the party as well as fulfilling the aspirations of the common people”, he said.

In the meantime, Deb’s wife and a social activist Niti Deb filed a complaint with the West Agartala Police station alleging that some unscrupulous elements started spreading canard in whatsapp message from a fake account.

In her complaint Niti Deb said police complaint at the West PS after she received an ‘absolutely false, defamatory and full of incitement’ WhatsApp message on her mobile. She alleged the WhatsApp message was circulated naming the ex-chief Minister. She pointed out that it was a deep-rooted conspiracy. She demanded stern action against the persons involved.

In her complaint, Niti Deb said,  “on May 16, I received one WhatsApp message from one Mobile No. 8257807496, the contents of which are absolutely false, defamatory and full of incitements. On inquiry, I found that the WhatsApp number itself is fake…  The contents are attributed to Central Intelligent Agency while on initial personal inquiry I have grave doubts that the so-called report is actually non-existent and being circulated in the name of the Ex-Chief Minister so as to create sensation and also to infringe the security and sovereignty of the nation as a result of a deep-rooted conspiracy”. Police registered a case. The matter, sources said, would now be sent to the Crime Branch of the police to investigate.
