Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said voluntary blood donation has become part of the state’s culture, urging youth to join blood donation, sports and welfare activities while unveiling statues of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Swami Vivekananda in Agartala.

Voluntary blood donation is one of the noblest expressions of humanity. To take the movement of voluntary blood donation further ahead young generation must come forward. In the state blood donation has already become a part of our culture. More and more people should be involved in blood donation programmes.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made these remarks today after unveiling the statues of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Swami Vivekananda and inaugurating a blood donation camp at the Netaji Subhash Regional Coaching Centre (NSRCC), Agartala. The blood donation camp was organized by the Tripura Sports Council.

Speaking at the event the Chief Minister said, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Swami Vivekananda were epitomes of patriotism and humanity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been deeply influenced by their ideology and is working for the development of the country following that ideology. As much as people imbibe the ideology of Swamiji and Netaji in their personal and social life, more the society will be directed on the right path.

The Chief Minister said voluntary blood donation creates a positive ambience in society. The process of building a drug-free society will be expedited if the young generation gets more associated with sports and welfare activities like this.

The Chief Minister said, besides education, socio-economic status of one can be improved through sports. To be successful in sports one must have a healthy body and mind. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized practicing Yoga to have a physically and mentally strong young generation.

Highlighting the state’s progress in sports field, the Chief Minister said that the sports persons of the state have already curved a niche for themselves at the national and international level with their stalwart performances.

Among others who spoke on the occasion included secretary of the youth affairs and sports department Tapas Roy. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Padma Shri Deepa Karmakar, director of the department also graced the programme. Welcome address was delivered by the secretary of Tripura Sports Council Sukanta Ghosh. Former coach and footballer of the state Bimal Kumar Roy was felicitated by the Chief Minister.
