In an attempt to prevent cyberattacks and data breaches, the Board of Directors of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) convened a crucial meeting on Friday at the Secretariat. The meeting, presided over by the Board Chairman and Power Secretary, Abhishek Singh, IAS, resulted in the approval of the corporation’s “IT/OT/IoT and Cybersecurity Policy.”
Among the distinguished attendees were TSECL’s Managing Director, Biswajit Bose, and Finance Director, Sarvjit Singh Dogra. The adoption of the cybersecurity policy marks a major milestone in the corporation’s commitment to safeguarding sensitive information and IT infrastructure. Developed by TSECL’s expert engineering team, the policy aligns with the guidelines issued by the Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, and other relevant agencies.
The newly approved policy establishes a robust framework for protecting IT infrastructure, corporate data, and customer-sensitive information. This initiative is expected to benefit customers, employees, and stakeholders by ensuring enhanced security for personal information and online transactions. Employees will be provided with specific guidelines and best practices to mitigate risks related to cyberattacks and data breaches. Additionally, stakeholders will experience increased transparency and accountability through the structured IT policy framework.
The cybersecurity policy primarily aims to strengthen TSECL’s resilience in the information technology sector. Key objectives include:
– Preventing cyberattacks and data breaches.
– Ensuring compliance with statutory standards and regulations.
– Enhancing emergency response and disaster recovery plans.
– Improving employee productivity and efficiency.
– Fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
By implementing this policy, TSECL aims to provide the residents of Tripura with a reliable, secure, and efficient power supply. Strengthening cybersecurity measures will not only fortify the corporation’s security infrastructure but also bolster public trust and confidence in its services. As digital threats continue to evolve, proactive initiatives like this will be instrumental in safeguarding essential public utilities from potential cyber risks.
