Tripura CM Manik Saha announces Rs 64.50 lakh relief for 258 families affected by post-poll violence, vows strict law enforcement, and calls urgent meeting with DGP and officials to restore order and ensure security.
A renewed push to restore stability and accountability has been initiated following reports of post-poll violence, with Chief Minister Manik Saha announcing a high-level review meeting and immediate financial relief for affected families. The developments come amid rising concerns over law and order in several parts of the state after recent electoral outcomes.
On Monday, the Chief Minister made it clear that maintaining peace and enforcing legal authority would remain the administration’s top priority. He stated that no form of lawlessness would be tolerated and that strict measures would be taken against those involved in violence. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach, he reiterated that the government would act firmly to re-establish normalcy and public confidence.

As part of immediate relief measures, financial assistance amounting to Rs 64.50 lakh has been approved from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The aid will benefit 258 families identified as victims of the recent unrest in its first phase. According to the Chief Minister, these families have suffered significant distress due to the violence and require urgent support to rebuild their lives.
In a strongly worded message, the Chief Minister alleged that certain groups were attempting to create an atmosphere of fear, particularly in tribal regions, to influence future electoral processes. He expressed concern that such incidents have become a recurring pattern after elections and stressed the need to break this cycle permanently.
To address the situation comprehensively, the Chief Minister announced that he would soon convene a high-level meeting involving top administrative and law enforcement officials, including the Director General of Police, the Chief Secretary, and senior cabinet ministers. The meeting is expected to focus on assessing the ground situation, strengthening security arrangements, and outlining a roadmap to prevent further escalation.
The Chief Minister also reflected on similar instances of violence in the past, noting that such incidents had been observed after previous elections as well. He underlined that the persistence of such practices undermines democratic values and must be eradicated through firm and consistent action. According to him, restoring the “rule of law” is essential not only for governance but also for ensuring that citizens can exercise their democratic rights without fear.

During his recent visit to a relief camp at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel, where several displaced individuals had taken shelter, the Chief Minister interacted with affected families and party workers. He described their experiences as deeply distressing and said that immediate arrangements would be made to ensure their safe return to their homes. The administration, he assured, would take all necessary steps to provide security and rehabilitation.
The Chief Minister also addressed concerns regarding the recent electoral performance, acknowledging that while political outcomes may vary, it should not result in intimidation or violence against supporters of any party. He noted that a significant number of voters had supported his party and emphasized that their safety and dignity must be protected at all costs.
At the same time, he appealed to party workers and supporters to maintain restraint and avoid retaliatory actions. He stressed that any response to violence must remain within the framework of law and order, reinforcing the government’s commitment to peaceful resolution and justice.
