NAKSHA survey launched in Agartala Municipal Corporation area to create an accurate urban geospatial database, strengthen land records, improve transparency and planning, and prepare Urban Property (UrPro) Cards through modern technologies including Electronic Total Station and GNSS.
The National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) project has been launched as a pilot initiative in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area, with the objective of developing an accurate and integrated geospatial database of urban properties.
The first phase of the survey will cover approximately 31.05 square kilometres within the AMC area. The designated survey zone includes 25 revenue mouzas and 35 municipal wards, either fully or partially.
Survey activities officially began from Agartala Sheet No. 13 mouza, where trained survey teams have started field-level operations. The teams are conducting detailed field surveys, ground-level verification and collection and verification of property-related information using modern surveying technologies.
The survey is being carried out with the help of advanced equipment, including Electronic Total Station (ETS) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology. These tools are expected to help improve the accuracy of spatial measurements and property data collected during the survey process.
The primary objective of the NAKSHA pilot project is to integrate spatial information with property-related details and establish a reliable geospatial database for urban properties. The initiative is expected to strengthen urban land records while improving transparency in property-related information.
The project will also support better urban planning and contribute to making property-related public services more efficient. Based on the information collected and subsequently verified during the survey, Urban Property (UrPro) Cards will be prepared for the properties covered under the initiative.
The survey is being implemented through coordination among the Directorate of Land Records and Settlement, SPMU NAKSHA, Agartala Municipal Corporation, and concerned field-level officials.
The Directorate of Land Records and Settlement, in a press statement, urged citizens residing within the designated survey area to extend necessary cooperation to the survey teams during field visits and ground-level verification.

The NAKSHA survey is expected to provide a technology-driven foundation for improved urban land management, updated property records and more transparent property-related services in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area.
