Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reviews Tripura national highway projects and directs officials to intensify field monitoring, ensure timely completion, strengthen governance, improve infrastructure development, enhance public service delivery, and accelerate welfare implementation across the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday chaired a high-level preparatory meeting at the TIFT Conference Hall in Agartala to review the progress of ongoing national highway projects across Tripura, underlining the government’s commitment to strengthening connectivity and accelerating infrastructure development in the state.
Senior officials from concerned departments attended the meeting, which focused on ensuring timely execution of highway works, maintaining construction quality, and improving coordination among implementing agencies. The Chief Minister emphasized that national highway projects play a crucial role in improving economic mobility, trade flow, and access to essential services for people across Tripura.
Dr. Saha stated that the primary objective of these infrastructure initiatives is to enhance road connectivity within the state and with neighboring regions, thereby supporting long-term development. He later highlighted the significance of the review meeting on social media, noting that strategic planning and close monitoring are essential for shaping Tripura’s future road network.
In a separate but equally important development, Chief Minister Dr. Saha issued strong directions to officers of all categories of the state government to move beyond file-based administration and intensify field visits to personally monitor development works. The instructions were given during a high-level review meeting of the Task Monitoring System (TMS) held at the Secretariat.
The TMS review meeting was attended by senior officials, District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, and heads of various departments. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister made it clear that governance cannot be effective if confined to office desks. He stressed that officials must regularly visit project sites, interact with the public, and supervise implementation on the ground.
Dr. Saha asserted that real administrative transparency and efficiency can only be achieved when officers directly observe progress and understand public concerns first-hand. He said that timely completion of development projects is essential to ensure that government welfare schemes deliver tangible benefits to the intended beneficiaries without delay.

The Chief Minister instructed all departments to accelerate execution of ongoing projects and eliminate unnecessary procedural bottlenecks. He emphasized that delays in implementation weaken public trust and undermine the objectives of development programs.
Highlighting the importance of responsive governance, Dr. Saha directed officials to make effective use of public grievance redressal portals and ensure prompt resolution of complaints received from citizens. He urged district administrations to remain proactive in addressing local issues and maintaining continuous engagement with communities.
Expressing concern over urban management challenges, the Chief Minister instructed municipal authorities to maintain cleanliness and take firm action against illegal encroachments on footpaths and public spaces. He categorically warned that traders and vendors removed from footpaths must not be allowed to reoccupy those areas under any circumstances.
To strengthen monitoring mechanisms, Dr. Saha suggested the formation of dedicated monitoring teams or special task forces to function on a daily basis. He also directed that cleanliness drives in urban areas be conducted during late evening and night hours to maintain hygiene and public order.
Environmental protection was another key focus of the meeting. The Chief Minister stressed the need to prevent water pollution and reviewed the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission and related initiatives. He instructed officials to ensure effective implementation of these programs to safeguard public health and environmental sustainability.

Concluding the meeting, Dr. Saha reiterated that timely project completion and efficient service delivery must remain the top priority of the administration. Calling for responsibility, dedication, and a field-oriented approach, he urged officers to translate government policies into visible development outcomes.
“Good governance is possible only when officers remain active in the field and projects are completed within deadlines,” the Chief Minister affirmed, setting clear expectations for the state’s administrative machinery.
