Tripura Leads the Way in Development: CM Highlights Achievements on Government's Second Anniversary

On Saturday, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha proudly announced that Tripura has become the first state in India to implement an electronic office (e-office) system spanning from the state Cabinet level down to the 3-tier Gram Panchayat level. He was speaking at a program held at RS Bhawan to mark the completion of two years of the second BJP-led government in the state.

Development Initiatives and Governance Reforms
Dr. Saha extensively outlined the achievements of the BJP government, emphasizing that the development of all sections of society is essential for the overall progress of Tripura. Since the BJP assumed power in 2018, the state has witnessed a significant restoration of peace, paving the way for the launch of 20 to 22 major projects over the past seven years, aimed at comprehensive development.

In 2022, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, the state launched the 'Har Ghar Sushashan Campaign', which benefited 23 lakh people by promoting good governance. Additionally, a new portal named 'Amar Sarkar' was introduced to facilitate direct communication between the government and the people. The portal received widespread national recognition for its effectiveness.

Leading in Development and Law & Order
The Chief Minister highlighted that Tripura is now a leading state across various development parameters. According to Dr. Saha, Tripura ranks third among the 28 states in terms of law and order and stands eighth as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data.

Empowering Women through Targeted Schemes
To uplift women, the state government has introduced a series of initiatives. Dr. Saha announced that 33% of government jobs have been reserved for women. Under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), 53,623 Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been established, involving 4.84 lakh rural women. Additionally, the Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission has seen the formation of 5,941 SHGs comprising 63,743 urban women.

To further support women, the government has allocated Rs 114 crore to build 10 working women hostels and has been distributing free scooters and bicycles to girl students. The state has also set up nine all-women police stations to ensure better security and support for women.

Focused Development of Tribal Areas
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has extended a financial support of Rs 1,400 crore to the state government for the development of tribal areas. Dr. Saha reiterated that the state government is committed to the inclusive development of all communities.

Employment Generation and Economic Growth
Addressing the issue of unemployment, Dr. Saha mentioned that till January, the government has provided jobs to 16,451 youths directly and has recruited 5,771 individuals through outsourcing. In terms of financial benefits, the BJP government has offered 30% Dearness Allowance (DA) to government employees.

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector has seen a remarkable growth, with over 2.1 lakh micro-entrepreneurs actively contributing to the state's economy. The per capita income in Tripura has increased to Rs 1,77,723, positioning the state as a leader in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Encouraging Investments and Infrastructure Development
The Chief Minister revealed that more than 787 investors participated in a recent investment summit in Agartala, resulting in the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 3,700 crore. The state’s annual budget for 2024-25 has earmarked Rs 7,000 crore for infrastructure development across various sectors.

He emphasized that the state is experiencing an unprecedented wave of development, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Act East Policy and the HIRA model. This strategy has catalyzed rapid growth in infrastructure, economy, education, and law and order.

Recognitions and Awards
Tripura's progress has been acknowledged by the Central Government through numerous awards and accolades. Dr. Saha mentioned that in 2023-24, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) saw a significant increase, further validating the state's development trajectory.

E-Governance and Transparency Initiatives
Dr. Saha highlighted the state's focus on transparency and efficient governance by launching the e-Office system across all administrative levels. The 'Proti Ghore Susashan' initiative has also benefited around 23 lakh people by improving access to various government services. The 'Amar Sarkar' portal was particularly praised during the Chief Ministers' conclave, receiving appreciation from PM Modi himself.

Inclusive Growth and Vision for the Future
Concluding his address, Dr. Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to working round the clock for the welfare of the people, focusing on inclusive development in every corner of the state. He emphasized that true development encompasses not just physical infrastructure but also improvements in communication, quality of life, education, economy, and law and order. The state government’s efforts align with the vision of 'Vikshit Bharat'—a developed India.

The event was attended by prominent leaders including Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, and several others, showcasing a united front in driving the state towards a brighter future.
