As the BJP confidently predicts a sweeping victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, claiming they will secure over 400 seats nationwide and win both Parliamentary constituencies in Tripura, opposition parties CPI(M) and Congress have dismissed these exit polls as “inaccurate” and “fabricated.” The final results, set to be announced on June 4, are eagerly awaited.

CPI(M) state secretary and Leader of the Opposition, Jitendra Choudhury, emphasized that exit polls should not be trusted blindly. Drawing parallels to the 2004 elections, he recalled how exit polls had inaccurately predicted the formation of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government, only for the UPA to emerge victorious. Choudhury remarked, “The final results, which we are waiting for, cannot be based on exit polls. We have seen how exit polls in 2004 went wrong after the UPA government was formed, contrary to predictions favoring Vajpayee’s administration.”

Choudhury further critiqued the BJP’s leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, arguing there is no substantial support for him compared to the former Prime Minister Vajpayee. “Based on the 2004 experience, there is no significant wave in favor of the BJP. Unlike Vajpayee, Modi as a leader and Prime Minister is not as well accepted across the nation this time,” he remarked.

Addressing the BJP’s claim of surpassing 400 seats, Choudhury criticized the party’s campaign strategies, particularly the focus on religious issues such as the Ram Mandir. “The BJP adopted a policy based on religion like Ram Mandir to contest this election, which failed. Then they shifted to ‘Modi Ki Guarantee,’ but their campaign didn’t highlight their achievements from the past ten years. Meanwhile, the I.N.D.I.A bloc campaigned on pressing issues affecting the common people.”

He concluded by advising caution against trusting exit polls, advocating instead for patience until the official results are released. “It would not be wise to trust exit polls. We should wait for the EVM results on June 4,” Choudhury urged.

Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar echoed a similar sentiment, emphasizing the importance of waiting for the official results. “While exit polls favor the BJP, the I.N.D.I.A bloc has also made predictions based on comprehensive data from all states. Let’s wait until June 4 to see the actual outcome,” Sarkar suggested.

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman criticized the exit polls as ‘fabricated’ and targeted biased media. “The Godi media’s predictions in favor of the BJP have failed this time. For instance, they predicted BJP’s win in 16-18 seats in Haryana, a state with only 10 parliamentary seats, and Congress’ win in 13-16 seats in Tamil Nadu, where Congress contested only 9 seats,” Barman pointed out

Barman asserted that the Congress party’s confidence in forming the next government is rooted in the people’s trust, not exit polls. He expressed optimism about the I.N.D.I.A bloc’s prospects, saying, “The Congress party’s belief in forming the government is based on the trust of the people, not on such exit polls.”

He emphasized that the I.N.D.I.A bloc’s confidence in forming the government is rooted in the trust of the people rather than misleading exit polls. “Our belief in forming the government is based on the people’s trust, not on these manipulated exit polls,” he asserted.
