Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has announced an ambitious expansion of digital services across the state, aimed at enhancing public access, promoting smart governance, and streamlining government-citizen interactions. The announcement was made during his address at the 17th Digital Transformation Conclave held in Aizawl.
In his keynote speech, the Chief Minister underscored the significance of affordable, inclusive, and accessible digital platforms in today’s governance landscape. He emphasized that the adoption of digital governance not only increases convenience for citizens but also significantly reduces administrative costs. “Digital services bring the government closer to the people. They make governance transparent, efficient, and economical,” he said.
Highlighting the state’s current digital infrastructure, Lalduhoma referenced several key initiatives already in place. These include the Mizoram State Public Grievances Redressal & Monitoring System, Kai Apps, RAMP – MSME Facilitation Cell and Portals, and the SDG Dashboard designed to track Sustainable Development Goals across villages. He also spoke about the MPLAN-Mizoram State Project Monitoring Dashboard, e-RAM for online tax and revenue services, and the online Inner Line Permit system. Notably, the Aizawl Civil Hospital now offers online OPD registration, improving healthcare accessibility for the public.
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister hinted at several future initiatives such as e-office systems and enhanced digital collaborations with the central government. He thanked all stakeholders—including IT professionals, private companies, and government officials—who participated in organizing the event, which was jointly hosted by the Department of ICT and several national organizations.
Lalduhoma also addressed recent concerns over cybersecurity following the hacking of a Mizoram government website. He assured the public that the website has been swiftly restored and emphasized the importance of cybersecurity vigilance, especially for those managing official digital platforms.
Mizoram’s ICT Minister, Vanlalthlana, spoke on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence and cloud technology, stressing their importance in modern governance, child safety, and inclusive development. He advocated for robust internet access and secure data infrastructure as vital components of Mizoram’s digital future.
Vanlalthlana reaffirmed that digital growth aligns with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, stating, “Digital development is no longer optional; it is essential for the progress of both India and Mizoram.”
The conclave served as a collaborative platform, where experts from both the government and private sectors discussed the role of digital services in driving development. High-ranking officials including Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena and Director General of Police Anil Shukla shared insights on the state’s digital roadmap.
Mizoram’s commitment to digital empowerment is poised to accelerate inclusive development, improve public services, and position the state as a leader in digital governance in the Northeast.
