Job aspirants awaiting recruitment in Tripura Fire and Emergency Services (TFES) have sought Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s intervention over prolonged delays in Fireman and Driver appointments. Candidates allege the recruitment process remains incomplete despite clearing examinations and qualifying stages, leaving hundreds uncertain about their future employment prospects.
Frustration is mounting among candidates who successfully cleared various stages of the recruitment process for the Tripura Fire and Emergency Services (TFES), as the long-pending appointment process for Fireman and Driver posts remains incomplete despite several years of waiting. Aspirants have now appealed directly to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to intervene and ensure that the recruitment process is concluded without further delay.
According to the affected candidates, the recruitment drive has been marked by repeated setbacks and uncertainty, leaving hundreds of hopeful job seekers in limbo. They alleged that although the recruitment process began years ago and several stages have already been completed, the final appointments are yet to be made.
Candidates stated that a recruitment notification for various posts under the Tripura Fire and Emergency Services was issued in 2022. Following the notification, physical efficiency tests were conducted across all eight districts of the state, attracting a large number of applicants. Those who qualified then appeared for a written examination held on January 8, 2023.
However, instead of receiving the examination results, candidates were informed through a newspaper notice published on June 4, 2025, that the written examination had been cancelled. The cancellation was reportedly necessitated by a major error related to the question paper or the evaluation process. As a result, authorities decided to restart the recruitment procedure, causing further delays and disappointment among the aspirants.
The candidates said they once again prepared for the examination and appeared for a fresh written test conducted on December 14, 2025. The results, announced in January 2026, revealed that 1,416 candidates had qualified for the Fireman post, while 16 candidates successfully cleared the examination for the Driver post.
Following the declaration of results, candidates expected the next stage of recruitment—the viva-voce or interview—to be conducted within a reasonable timeframe. However, more than five months have elapsed since the publication of the results, and no official notification regarding the interview process has been issued.
The prolonged silence from the authorities has triggered growing concern among the successful candidates. Many aspirants claim they have repeatedly approached officials of the Tripura Fire and Emergency Services seeking clarification about the status of the recruitment process. However, they allege that they have received contradictory explanations on different occasions.
According to the candidates, some officials cited pending approval from the Finance Department as the reason for the delay, while others reportedly pointed to financial constraints or the absence of clearance from higher authorities. These inconsistent responses have further deepened uncertainty and frustration among those awaiting appointments.
Many candidates emphasized that they have already spent nearly five years navigating the recruitment process and have invested considerable time, effort, and resources in preparing for the examinations. Several aspirants expressed concern that the continued delay is affecting their career prospects and creating mental stress for them and their families.
Urging the state government to take immediate action, the candidates appealed to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to personally look into the matter and ensure that the remaining stages of recruitment are completed at the earliest. They maintained that deserving candidates should not be made to suffer due to administrative delays and called for the prompt issuance of interview schedules and appointment orders.
