Campaigning for the first phase of Assembly election in West Bengal ends this evening. On the final day, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah addressed a massive rally in Kulti, West Bardhaman. Mr Shah launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress, alleging widespread corruption and lawlessness under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government. He claimed women are unsafe in the state, pointing to repeated incidents of violence against them, and said the Chief Minister should be ashamed of such failures.

He promised that if the BJP comes to power, good governance will be ensured, a Uniform Civil Code will be implemented, and one lakh jobs will be created every year. Shah also assured that no welfare schemes would be discontinued.
In a stern warning, he declared that after the vote count, if the BJP forms the government, corrupt leaders will be sent to jail.
