The 76th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed with solemnity in Agartala, as citizens and leaders paid homage to the Father of the Nation. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu led the commemorative events, laying a wreath and offering floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Murtiprangan, near the Circuit House.
Accompanied by State Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Governor Nallu emphasized the pivotal role played by Mahatma Gandhi in India’s struggle for independence. Calling for the embodiment of Gandhi’s principles, the Governor urged the implementation of his ideology to propel the nation’s development.
Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders also paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary, organizing various activities across the state. The President of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee, Ashish Kumar Saha, highlighted the importance of commemorating the day.
In a separate program, members of Sadar DYFI and TYF gathered at the Circuit House area in Agartala to offer floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait. During the ceremony, DYFI and TYF members took oaths to uphold the constitution, secularism, and communal harmony of India, affirming their commitment to the principles championed by Mahatma Gandhi. The day, observed as Shaheed Diwas (Martyrs’ Day), served as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy left by the Mahatma.
