
In a momentous event, Mayor Dipak Majumder inaugurated a two-day discussion on the Kishori Shakti Utkarsh Manch at Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ H.S. School on Tuesday.
The gathering witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Kalyani Roy, Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Primary Education Rights Commissioner Subhasish Bandopadhyay, and celebrated Olympian Dipa Karmakar, among others.
The event featured a felicitation ceremony where individuals such as Dipa Karmakar, Miss Charu, Indrani Dey, Dr. Chandrani Biswas, Sharmila Chowdhury, Dr. Gopa Chakraborty, Sumana Debbarma, Pushpita Chakraborty, and Nibedita Roy were honored for their outstanding contributions. Additionally, 50 selected students from different blocks were recognized for their noteworthy achievements in various fields.
Addressing the audience during the inaugural speech, Mayor Majumder emphasized the significance of Kishori Shakti Utkarsh Manch in providing adolescent girls with the platform to realize their full potential. He highlighted the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to the overall development of girls, citing central government schemes such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.
Chief Whip Kalyani Roy stressed the importance of gender cooperation for societal progress and praised today’s generation of adolescent girls, citing role models such as Olympian Dipa Karmakar, astronaut Kalpana Chawla, and weightlifter Mary Kom.
The Kishori Shakti Utkarsh Manch, a project under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), emerged as a platform fostering the holistic development of adolescent girls in sports, academics, culture, and art.
The event served as a testament to the collective commitment towards empowering and nurturing the potential of young girls in the region.
