Women protest in Bishramganj’s Pushkarbari area over a month-long drinking water crisis caused by a damaged pipeline, demanding urgent government action, new pipeline installation, and restoration of uninterrupted water supply amid rising public anger.
Residents of Pushkarbari in Bishramganj witnessed rising unrest as a group of local women took to the streets, protesting against a prolonged drinking water crisis that has disrupted daily life for over a month. The demonstration highlighted growing frustration over the lack of basic civic amenities in the area.
According to the agitating residents, the water supply system has remained completely defunct due to a damaged pipeline. Locals alleged that the pipeline was broken during previous repair work carried out in the locality, but authorities failed to take effective steps to restore it. Despite repeated complaints, no visible action has been taken, leaving households without a reliable source of clean drinking water.
Women, who bear the primary responsibility of managing household water needs, expressed their distress over the situation. Many stated that they have been forced to walk considerable distances every day to fetch water from alternative sources. This daily struggle has not only consumed time but has also led to physical exhaustion and, in several cases, injuries.
The protest saw participants raising slogans and demanding immediate intervention from the concerned departments. Demonstrators emphasized the urgent need for the installation of new pipelines to ensure a steady and uninterrupted water supply. They warned that continued negligence could lead to further escalation of protests in the coming days.

The situation has drawn attention to the broader issue of infrastructure maintenance and public service delivery in semi-urban areas. Residents are now urging local authorities to act swiftly and responsibly to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy.
As tensions continue to simmer, the response of the administration will be crucial in determining whether the situation can be defused or if public anger will intensify further.
