Umakanta Academy, Agartala, hosted a nationwide Aviation Career Guidance Program by the Airports Authority of India and MBB Airport, inspiring students of Classes X–XII to explore diverse aviation careers under the initiative launched by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.

Umakanta Academy (Bengali Medium), Agartala, hosted a special Aviation Career Guidance Program on Thursday. The event, organized jointly by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and MBB Airport, aimed to create awareness among students about the vast opportunities in the aviation sector — one of the fastest-growing industries in India.

The interactive session was conducted virtually across the country, connecting students from multiple schools and regions. The initiative forms part of a nationwide campaign launched by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu, targeting students of Classes X, XI, and XII. The goal is to provide them with early insights into the diverse career paths available in aviation, ranging from piloting and air traffic control to aircraft design, airport operations, and management.

The event at Umakanta Academy was graced by several dignitaries, including the Director of Agartala Airport, Mr. Nehra, who addressed the students virtually. Also present were Headmaster Dulal Debnath and Assistant Headmaster Prabal Bhowmik, who extended their support and appreciation for the initiative.

Empowering Students Through Early Career Awareness

In his address, Director Nehra shared his experience and perspectives on the dynamic and evolving world of aviation. He encouraged students to nurture curiosity and develop the necessary skills to pursue aviation-related careers.

“We aim to channel youthful energy into aviation careers. The growth of Indian aviation is extraordinary, and early guidance is key to keeping up,” he remarked.

His words resonated with the students, who expressed keen interest in the various opportunities outlined during the session. The program emphasized that aviation is not limited to being a pilot or flight attendant — it encompasses a range of professions, including engineering, meteorology, logistics, ground handling, safety management, and aerospace research.

National-Level Initiative for Future Aviators

The Aviation Career Guidance Program, spearheaded by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, reflects India’s commitment to preparing the next generation for the country’s expanding aviation ecosystem. With the rapid growth of domestic airports, increased air connectivity, and rising demand for skilled professionals, the initiative seeks to bridge the knowledge gap among school students.

By introducing aviation careers at the school level, the program aims to inspire early interest and motivate students to pursue relevant academic streams such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). These foundational subjects are essential stepping stones for advanced aviation education and training.

Local Impact and Institutional Participation

Umakanta Academy, one of Agartala’s premier educational institutions, welcomed the initiative wholeheartedly. Headmaster Dulal Debnath stated that such programs open new horizons for students who may not have previously considered aviation as a career path.

“Our students are highly talented. This program offers them the right direction to dream big and think beyond traditional professions,” he said.

Assistant Headmaster Prabal Bhowmik echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of career-oriented guidance programs in schools.

“It’s vital to expose our youth to industries that are shaping India’s future. Aviation is one such sector that promises both national pride and global opportunities,” he noted.

Igniting Dreams Beyond the Classroom

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students enthusiastically posed questions about training requirements, career pathways, and future prospects in aviation. Many expressed newfound motivation to pursue careers as air traffic controllers, aeronautical engineers, and aviation administrators.

The Airports Authority of India and MBB Airport have expressed intentions to continue such outreach programs in the future, expanding their reach to more schools across the Northeast. The initiative aligns with India’s broader vision of developing human capital for the aviation sector, ensuring that the next generation of aviators, engineers, and managers are well-informed and well-prepared.
