TU students intensified protests over delayed fifth semester results, marksheet discrepancies, and technical portal failures. Agitations spread across colleges as students fear academic uncertainty, CUET PG disruption, and form fill-up complications, while university authorities extended deadlines citing software-related technical errors.

Students from several colleges affiliated with Tripura University have intensified protests over delayed semester results, discrepancies in online marksheets, and alleged administrative negligence, raising concerns about the academic future of thousands of students across the state.

The protests, which have continued for several days, gained momentum on Friday when students of Women’s College Agartala staged a road blockade demanding immediate correction of result-related issues. Protesters accused university authorities of failing to respond adequately despite repeated appeals from students and student organizations.

Members and supporters of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad also burned an effigy of the Vice Chancellor of the university during the agitation, alleging that the administration remained indifferent to the difficulties faced by students.

According to protesting students, the delay in publishing fifth semester examination results has created widespread uncertainty, especially for those preparing for final semester examinations and postgraduate entrance tests. Several students alleged that even after results were uploaded online, multiple discrepancies were detected in the grade cards and academic records displayed on the university portal.

One protesting student stated that many candidates who are scheduled to appear in final examinations within the next few months are still waiting for their fifth semester results. The student also claimed that the university portal failed to display previously cleared back papers, creating confusion regarding eligibility for sixth semester examinations.

Students explained that university regulations require all back papers to be cleared before appearing in the sixth semester examinations. Due to the portal errors, many students fear they may be unfairly barred from sitting for upcoming examinations despite successfully clearing earlier papers.

Later in the day, leaders of the student organization addressed a press conference and alleged that the university administration had failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the ongoing issues.

An ABVP leader claimed that there were several cases in which students who had appeared in examinations were shown as absent in official grade cards uploaded online. In other instances, students who requested corrections reportedly discovered that revised records incorrectly declared them failed in all subjects despite earlier grade cards indicating they had passed.

The student leaders argued that such inconsistencies could prevent students from completing form fill-up procedures for upcoming examinations, thereby jeopardizing their academic careers. They also criticized the university administration for failing to provide clear timelines or effective solutions to resolve the crisis.

Another major concern raised during the protest was the possible impact of the delays on students planning to appear for Common University Entrance Test postgraduate examinations. Student representatives warned that prolonged delays in semester examinations and result publication could severely affect admission opportunities for postgraduate studies.

The protesters alleged that extending form fill-up dates alone would not solve the larger academic crisis faced by students. They demanded immediate correction of grade cards, publication of accurate results, and restoration of normal academic schedules.

When contacted regarding the allegations, officials from the university’s examination department acknowledged that technical problems in the online portal were responsible for many of the issues being faced by students.

A university official said that more than 30,000 students had appeared for the fifth semester examinations, placing heavy pressure on the digital portal used for uploading results and grade cards. According to the official, the software platform has encountered serious technical difficulties while processing and displaying large volumes of academic data.

In response to the situation, the university administration extended the form fill-up deadline until May 28 to ensure that students do not lose the opportunity to register for forthcoming examinations.

The official further stated that if the technical problems are not resolved within the extended period, affiliated colleges have been authorized to conduct the form fill-up process offline in accordance with University Grants Commission guidelines.

College principals have reportedly been empowered to supervise offline form submissions to minimize disruption to students’ academic schedules if the online system continues to malfunction.

Meanwhile, university authorities informed that the Finance Officer and Registrar are currently in Kolkata to attend meetings related to software development and technical improvements aimed at resolving the portal-related issues.
