Tripura government plans major redevelopment of the Jute Mill and adjoining Hapania areas with modern infrastructure, public facilities, parking, and employment opportunities. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inspected the proposed site and reviewed plans for an upcoming IT Park in Agartala.

The Tripura government has initiated an ambitious plan to transform the Jute Mill area and its adjoining regions into a modern infrastructure zone equipped with advanced public facilities and urban amenities. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy visited the proposed redevelopment site at Hapania on Thursday to review the ongoing planning process and inspect the identified locations for the project.

Following the inspection, the minister said the state government is working with a fresh development vision aimed at reshaping the Jute Mill region into a modern urban hub capable of supporting future growth, economic activities, and improved public infrastructure.

According to the minister, the redevelopment initiative is being carefully designed to ensure that modernization efforts do not negatively impact employees associated with the Jute Mill. He emphasized that the government is giving serious attention to the welfare, future security, and various support measures required for workers and their families while planning the large-scale transformation.

The proposed project is expected to include modern civic infrastructure with advanced facilities, large public seating arrangements, and sufficient parking space to support large gatherings, commercial activities, and public events. Officials believe the initiative could significantly improve the urban landscape of the area while also strengthening economic opportunities for local residents.

Speaking about the broader impact of the project, the minister expressed confidence that the modernization of the Jute Mill adjoining areas would contribute positively to Tripura’s long-term development goals. He said the initiative has the potential to create employment opportunities, attract investment, and enhance modern urban infrastructure in and around Agartala.

During the inspection, senior officials from multiple departments accompanied the minister to assess the feasibility and future planning requirements of the proposed development zones. The discussions reportedly focused on infrastructure planning, accessibility, traffic management, and long-term sustainability of the proposed urban expansion.

As part of the same visit, the minister also inspected the proposed site for the upcoming IT Park along the Amtali Bypass Road in Agartala. The proposed IT Park is expected to become another important component of the state’s infrastructure and employment generation strategy, particularly for the technology and service sectors.

Senior officials present during the inspection included Kiran Gitte and Jiya Raghul Geshan, along with other concerned administrative officers involved in the planning and execution process.

The government’s latest initiative reflects an increasing focus on urban modernization and economic expansion in Tripura. With the redevelopment of the historic Jute Mill region and the parallel push for new technology infrastructure, the state administration is aiming to create a balanced model of industrial heritage, modern public facilities, and future-ready economic development.
