Tripura reviews PMSVANidhi progress at 7th SLMC meeting, focusing on financial inclusion, street vendor empowerment, and improved implementation strategies under Urban Development Department leadership to boost livelihoods and strengthen urban economic resilience.
The Government of Tripura convened the 7th State Level Monitoring Committee (SLMC) meeting on Thursday to assess the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PMSVANidhi), a flagship initiative aimed at empowering street vendors through accessible credit and financial inclusion.
The high-level review meeting was chaired by Dr. Milind Ramteke, Secretary of the Urban Development Department (UDD), who emphasized the importance of accelerating implementation and ensuring that benefits reach the grassroots level effectively.
The meeting was initiated by Member Convenor Tarit Kanti Chakma, who also serves as Mission Director of PMSVANidhi under the Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission (TULM). Conducted in both offline and virtual modes, the session brought together key stakeholders involved in executing the scheme across the state.
Senior officials, including the District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura, participated physically, alongside representatives from major financial and administrative institutions. These included the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), the Finance Department, the Rural Development Department, and national-level institutions such as the Reserve Bank of India and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). Officials from municipal bodies, commercial banks, and the PMSVANidhi state mission team were also present.
Meanwhile, District Magistrates and Collectors from seven districts, along with Chief Executive Officers and Executive Officers of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Block Development Officers (BDOs), and Lead District Managers (LDMs), joined the meeting virtually. This hybrid format ensured comprehensive participation from both urban and district-level governance structures.
During the session, detailed reviews were conducted on key performance indicators of the PMSVANidhi scheme, including loan disbursement, repayment rates, beneficiary outreach, and digital transaction adoption among street vendors. Officials highlighted both achievements and challenges, focusing on areas that require immediate intervention.
Chairing the meeting, Dr. Ramteke provided strategic guidance to enhance the scheme’s effectiveness. He stressed the need for proactive measures, better coordination among departments, and the adoption of best practices from high-performing districts. He also encouraged officials to intensify awareness campaigns to ensure that eligible street vendors are not left out of the scheme.
The PMSVANidhi scheme, launched by the Government of India, aims to provide collateral-free working capital loans to street vendors, enabling them to revive and sustain their businesses, particularly in the aftermath of economic disruptions. In Tripura, the scheme has played a crucial role in supporting urban livelihoods and promoting financial independence among small vendors.
Officials also discussed the importance of leveraging digital platforms to streamline application processes and improve transparency. Emphasis was placed on strengthening data monitoring systems and ensuring timely loan approvals and disbursements.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to scale up efforts and ensure that the benefits of PMSVANidhi reach every eligible vendor across Tripura. Authorities reiterated their focus on inclusive growth and sustainable urban development through targeted policy implementation.
