Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha campaigns for BJP in Silchar ahead of Assam Assembly elections 2025, backing candidate Dr. Rajdeep Roy while addressing voters, business leaders, and entrepreneurs in a crucial political outreach effort.
As political momentum builds ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura, is set to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Silchar on Sunday. His visit is being viewed as a strategic move to strengthen the party’s prospects in the Barak Valley region.
Dr. Saha will campaign in support of Rajdeep Roy, the BJP’s nominee from Silchar and a key figure in the party’s northeastern political strategy. Roy, who previously represented Silchar in Parliament, is also serving as the Prabhari (in-charge) of BJP’s Tripura unit, reflecting his growing influence within the party.
According to party sources, Dr. Saha is scheduled to address a major public gathering at Kirtoniar Field on Satsang Ashram Road at around 4 PM. The rally is expected to draw a significant crowd, including party supporters, local residents, and first-time voters. Political observers believe the Chief Minister’s presence could energize the BJP’s campaign in the region, where electoral contests are often closely fought.
Following the public meeting, Dr. Saha will participate in an interaction session with business leaders and entrepreneurs at a private hotel in Silchar. The meeting aims to address economic concerns, discuss development opportunities, and highlight the BJP’s vision for regional growth. The outreach to the business community is being seen as an effort to consolidate support among influential stakeholders.
Taking to social media, Dr. Rajdeep Roy welcomed the Tripura Chief Minister’s visit, stating that he looks forward to “insightful interactions and meaningful discussions” with citizens, entrepreneurs, and business leaders. The statement reflects the campaign’s emphasis on both grassroots engagement and policy-oriented dialogue.
The political significance of Dr. Saha’s campaign extends beyond Assam. Earlier this week, he actively participated in BJP’s election campaign in Wayanad, showcasing his role as a prominent campaigner for the party across different states. Additionally, he has been intensifying efforts in Tripura, particularly in the elections related to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, indicating a multi-front political engagement.
The Assam Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 9, with vote counting set for May 4. The state has approximately 2.50 crore registered voters, and polling will take place across 31,486 polling stations, making it one of the largest democratic exercises in the region.
