Over 300 voters join BJP in Mandwai as Tripura CM Manik Saha emphasizes democracy over monarchy, warns against violence, and calls for constructive political engagement. BJP strengthens support in Janajati areas with focus on welfare and women’s participation.

More than 300 voters from various political backgrounds joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a Karyakarta Sammelan organized by Mandwai Mandal on Friday. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, addressing the gathering, emphasized that Tripura is no longer under a monarchy and now operates in a democratic setup.

Dr. Saha warned against the politics of violence and muscle power, underscoring that the BJP will not tolerate intimidation or coercion in any form. “An attempt is being made to create an atmosphere of anarchy in Tripura. We have the right to do politics anywhere. Now there is no monarchy; now there is democracy,” the Chief Minister stated, in what appeared to be an oblique reference to recent activities by the Tipra Motha, though he did not name the organization directly.

The Chief Minister criticized the trend of intimidating Janajati communities, which he said had persisted for decades, and stressed that BJP’s commitment is to free society from such coercive practices.

“Janajati people are very bold, but it doesn’t mean that they would resort to violence and assault people. It means they have to speak boldly and efficiently, when needed,” he said.

Dr. Saha also drew comparisons to other states, noting that the politics of violence has been observed in Tripura, Kerala, and West Bengal during CPM rule.

The conference, attended by top BJP leaders, including state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, former MP Rebati Tripura, state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, Sadar Rural district president Gauranga Bhowmik, and Mandwai Mandal president Abhijit Debbarma, marked a significant show of political consolidation for the party.

After addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha personally welcomed 339 voters from various parties to the saffron camp, signaling growing public support for the BJP in the region. Highlighting the national leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said, “After Narendra Modi took charge as the Prime Minister in 2014, the terminology of politics in the entire country has changed. Now he has established India as a strong nation. We are also trying to work in that direction shown by the Prime Minister.”

Dr. Saha reiterated that the current BJP government is focused on welfare initiatives, particularly in Janajati areas, and stressed the importance of women’s participation in strengthening the party. “I am very happy that the presence of Janajati mothers and sisters has been increasing in the last few days wherever I have been. They started understanding the reality. Therefore, mothers and sisters have to play a special role in strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party,” he added.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that political groups, including Tipra Motha, must win public support through constructive work rather than through fear or intimidation. He emphasized that democratic engagement, development initiatives, and welfare projects are the key to gaining the people’s trust.

This political event in Mandwai reflects BJP’s continuing strategy to consolidate its influence in Tripura’s tribal regions and among communities traditionally targeted by coercive political methods. The addition of more than 300 voters from other political parties highlights the growing acceptance of BJP’s development-driven and non-violent political approach in the state.

With elections approaching, the BJP aims to leverage such events to demonstrate its commitment to democracy, inclusivity, and public welfare, while positioning itself as a strong alternative to the politics of intimidation that has historically affected the region.
