Tripura CM launches Samriddhi Abhiyan, empowering 4.86 lakh rural women through SHGs, boosting financial independence, credit access, and entrepreneurship, propelling the Lakhpati Didi mission toward inclusive growth and rural economic revival.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today inaugurated the Samriddhi Abhiyan, a campaign under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) designed to transform rural women’s financial independence and realize the vision of “Lakhpati Didis.”
The initiative, launched during a state-level event at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, seeks to strengthen Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as engines of inclusive growth, while providing women with easy access to credit, new livelihood opportunities, and entrepreneurial avenues. Secretary of Rural Development Abhishek Singh and TRLM CEO were among the dignitaries present.
Empowering Rural Women Through SHGs
Tripura’s SHG movement has emerged as a cornerstone of women’s empowerment in the state. Currently, over 4.86 lakh rural women are organized through 54,170 SHGs, 2,479 Village Organizations, and 174 Cluster-Level Federations (CLFs). These groups have become a platform for women to gain economic independence, participate actively in community and family decisions, and contribute meaningfully to state development.
TRLM’s ongoing financial inclusion programs have created an enabling environment where rural women can pursue their aspirations while boosting the local economy. Through the SHG–bank linkage program, thousands of women have accessed affordable credit, reducing dependence on informal moneylenders. Supported by TRLM, many have started small-scale enterprises in agriculture, animal husbandry, and handicrafts, achieving self-reliance and inspiring others to follow suit.
Remarkable Achievements Under the Lakhpati Didi Mission
Since 2018, SHG members in Tripura have collectively received loans worth Rs. 1,773 crore, maintaining an impressive 98% repayment rate, demonstrating both financial discipline and the state’s strong economic culture.
The Lakhpati Didi mission, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, has seen 1,08,281 women (95%) achieve the milestone of becoming financially self-sufficient out of the targeted 1.14 lakh. This remarkable achievement reflects women’s determination, TRLM’s effective strategies, and the government’s commitment to empowering rural communities.
Samriddhi Abhiyan: Accelerating the Momentum
Launched on August 1, 2025, the Samriddhi Abhiyan aims to deepen SHG–bank linkages, introduce fresh livelihood options, and facilitate easier access to credit for aspiring women entrepreneurs. The initial loan target for August was Rs. 110 crore, but the campaign far exceeded expectations, reaching Rs. 198 crore in sanctioned loans within a month.

During Saturday’s event, an additional Rs. 100 crore was distributed as Community Investment Fund (CIF) among Cluster-Level Federations. This fund is expected to empower SHG members to expand income-generating activities, become successful entrepreneurs, and further energize Tripura’s rural economy.
The ongoing flow of credit is anticipated to bolster financial inclusion, strengthen the culture of timely loan repayment, and inspire more women across the state to become confident, self-reliant, and successful entrepreneurs—the true embodiment of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ dream.
Government’s Commitment to Inclusive Growth
CM Dr. Manik Saha emphasized that the government is committed to creating an environment where rural women can thrive economically and socially. He lauded the dedication of SHG members, the support of the banking sector, and the proactive role of TRLM in making the vision of Lakhpati Didis a reality.
