Agartala witnessed a spirited show of community engagement on Friday as the Rotary Club of Agartala, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Agartala City, organized a massive polio awareness rally to mark World Polio Day 2025. The event, aimed at spreading awareness about polio eradication and vaccination, saw enthusiastic participation from students, healthcare workers, and civic dignitaries across the city.
The rally commenced at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan and culminated at the iconic Ujjayanta Palace, traversing major city routes and reaching out to citizens with the crucial message of building a polio-free world. Around 212 participants joined the march, including students from HFT Institute of Nursing Science, GT Institute of Paramedical Science, Edufeedus Group of Institutions, Tripura Nursing College, and healthcare professionals from Teresa Diagnostic Center.
The event was formally flagged off by Justice Arindam Lodh, Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission, along with prominent Rotarians including Kishalay Ghosh, Dr. Sanjay Kundu, and Pranab Sarkar. Media dignitaries such as Advocate Sanjay Pal, Chairman of Dainik Sambad Subal Dey, and Chairman of Syandan Patrika were also present, lending further visibility to the campaign.

He further highlighted the importance of community participation and collaboration with global partners like WHO, UNICEF, and national governments to ensure vaccine accessibility, particularly in remote and vulnerable regions.
The rally combined awareness with a message of unity, as participants carried banners, wore themed T-shirts, and chanted slogans advocating vaccination and polio prevention. The lively march through Agartala’s bustling streets drew attention from local residents, prompting many to engage with volunteers and learn more about the ongoing fight against polio.
The event concluded with a candle-lighting ceremony at Ujjayanta Palace, symbolizing hope, solidarity, and continued commitment to the cause. Speakers reiterated Rotary’s dedication to global public health, calling on communities, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to maintain focus on eradicating polio completely.
