A new NHM United Forum district committee has been formed in North Tripura to address employees’ rights, welfare and workplace concerns, while promoting unity, equal pay, healthcare dignity, drug-free communities and environmental conservation.
A new district committee of the NHM United Forum was formed in North Tripura on Sunday with an aim to collectively address the rights, welfare and various concerns of employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM).
The new committee was announced during a district-level interaction meeting organised at Ardhendu Bhattacharya Smriti Bhavan in Dharmanagar. The meeting brought together NHM employees, representatives of the NHM United Forum, public representatives and other invitees to discuss issues affecting workers and ways to strengthen coordination among employees across the district.
Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty and Dharmanagar Municipal Council chairperson Mitali Das Sen attended the programme along with representatives of the organisation and other participants.
During the interaction, participants discussed several issues related to the rights and welfare of NHM employees. Particular emphasis was placed on improving communication and coordination among employees working in different areas of North Tripura and strengthening the organisational structure of the NHM United Forum at the district level.
NHM employees also raised allegations of long-standing deprivation, claiming that workers under the mission had been denied various government benefits since 2006. They further expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged lack of implementation of the principle of equal pay for equal work.
The organisation called upon NHM employees to remain united and collectively work towards securing dignity, justice and welfare. Participants stressed that efforts to safeguard employees’ interests should remain aligned with humanitarian values and the broader responsibility of providing healthcare services to people.
The programme also carried a wider social message focused on building a “drug-free, green Tripura.” Participants highlighted the importance of creating greater awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging communities to work together against the growing social challenge.
Environmental conservation was another important part of the programme. Participants took part in tree plantation activities under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. The initiative was used to underline the importance of protecting the environment and encouraging greater public participation in plantation and conservation efforts.

The formation of the new district committee is expected to provide a platform for NHM employees in North Tripura to coordinate their concerns and collectively raise issues related to workplace welfare, rights and social responsibilities.
