In a significant move following the budget proposal, the cabinet led by Dr. Manik Saha has approved the implementation of the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, announced Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday.
Under this groundbreaking scheme, approximately 4.15 lakh families not registered under Ayushman Bharat will receive medical benefits of up to Rs. 5 lakh annually. The initiative, requiring an estimated annual expenditure of Rs. 104 crore, underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for its citizens.
To execute the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, an annual allocation of Rs. 104 crore has been earmarked, with around 70,000 Group C and D employees also set to benefit. Employees opting for the scheme are required to surrender their existing medical allowance.
With Tripura housing around 9.75 lakh families, including 4.50 lakh already covered under Ayushman Bharat, the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana is poised to bridge crucial gaps in healthcare access for thousands across the state.
Key features of the scheme include cashless and paperless health insurance, automatic renewal, and provision of free medicines for 15 days post-hospital discharge. Additionally, beneficiaries will have access to healthcare facilities in all hospitals empanelled under Ayushman Bharat nationwide.
Minister Chowdhury affirmed that the Chief Minister will personally inaugurate the scheme ahead of the next state budget, demonstrating the government’s proactive stance in prioritizing the health and well-being of its populace.
