Another feather of success is added to the health sector of the state. Garjee Primary Health Centre, Hemanta Debbarma Memorial Primary Health Centre and Matai Primary Health Centre have been accredited with National Quality Assurance Standard. In 2014, the Ministry of Health and Family Welafre, Government of India launched the National Quality Assurance Programme to maintain quality in healthcare services. Every government hospital, community health-centre and health sub-centre has been covered under this scheme. The hospital or health centre is recognized by National Quality Assurance only if 70% of the medical services of a hospital conform to the quality standards set by the Government of India.
In July this year, a delegation of the Government of India assessed three primary hospitals in the state, namely Garjee Primary Health Centre in Gomati district, Hemanta Debbarma Memorial Primary Health Centre in Khowai district and Matai Primary Health Centre in South district, against the quality of National Quality Assurance Standards. And in this regard, on September 12, 2022, the Health Secretary of the State Health Department was informed by a letter from the Ministry of Health of the Government of India that the said three primary health centres have been recognized by the National Quality Assurance Standard.
Garjee Primary Health Centre of Gomati District got 93.85% compliance, Hemanta Debbarma Memorial Primary Health Centre of Khowai District got 90.47% and Matai Primary Health Centre of South District got 75.20% compliance with National Quality Assurance Standard. So far 11 hospitals in the state have received national recognition of the National Quality Assurance Standard.
