Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang reviews high-level preparations for Narendra Modi visit during Sikkim Statehood 50th anniversary finale, focusing on security, infrastructure, and coordination for a landmark national event.

In a administrative push ahead of a landmark celebration, Prem Singh Tamang on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparations for the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit is expected to coincide with the grand closing ceremony of Sikkim’s 50th Statehood Anniversary later this month.

Held at Samman Bhawan, the meeting brought together senior government officials, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, and departmental heads to evaluate readiness across multiple sectors. Officials stated that the review focused on ensuring seamless execution of plans for what is anticipated to be one of the most significant events in the state’s recent history.

A comprehensive assessment was conducted covering critical aspects such as security arrangements, logistical planning, infrastructure readiness, and programme coordination. Emphasising the importance of efficiency, Chief Minister Tamang directed all departments to work in close coordination and adhere strictly to timelines.

“The visit marks a historic milestone for the state. Every department must ensure that preparations are completed flawlessly,” Tamang said during the meeting, underlining the symbolic and administrative importance of the occasion.

Detailed discussions were held regarding the Prime Minister’s proposed itinerary, with special attention to venue selection, movement routes, and contingency strategies. Officials were instructed to maintain continuous communication with central agencies to ensure compliance with established security protocols and procedural norms.

The review also extended to development projects expected to be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid during the visit. Departmental representatives presented updates on project status, with the Chief Minister stressing that all initiatives must be completed and operational in line with the planned schedule.

Senior administrative officials highlighted the necessity of robust infrastructure arrangements, including improved road connectivity, well-equipped venues, and adequate public convenience facilities. Crowd management strategies and emergency response systems were also discussed in detail to ensure the safety and comfort of attendees.

Authorities are preparing for a large turnout, given the dual significance of the Prime Minister’s presence and the culmination of five decades since Sikkim’s integration into the Indian Union. The administration is focusing on delivering a smooth, secure, and well-coordinated event that reflects the state’s progress and aspirations.

Reiterating the importance of collective responsibility, Tamang called for synchronized efforts among all stakeholders. “This is not just a government programme; it is a moment of pride for every citizen of Sikkim,” he added.
