In an effort to promote local indigenous jewelries of the indigenous tribes of the country’s lesser known North-East, World Gold Council (India) Private Limited, a non-profit, non governmental organization, has come up with the ‘Swarna Adarsh Abhiyaan’, according to a top functionary of the organization.
“The North-East is full of diversity and many mind boggling designs are prevailing in the region. These are unique in terms of designs, which most of the people in the country do not know. So, we have taken an initiative to promote local indiginious jewelry designs of Tripura as well as of the entire region to the national level and other parts of the globe”, Somasundaram PR, Regional CEO India at World Gold Council said on Friday.
Interacting with the media at a hotel here in Agartala, he said, “Swarna Adarsh Abhiyan is an initiative to promote the indigenous jewelry designs of Tripura to other parts of the country as well as global level.”
He said, “We want to do a study, we want to showcase the Northeaster designs that could be of great interest to millennials. We want to promote the indigenous designs of Tripura traditional arts/ornaments.”
Initially, ‘Swarna Adarsh Abhiyan’ will provide a platform of exchanging information and ideas to the retailers of the country as well as give recognition to their products at the global level, he added.
He said, “World Gold Council does not promote individual marketing, it promotes regional aspiration and regional opportunity through- ‘my gold guide’, an online platform which provides information regarding gold.
According to him, retailers who adopt fair practices on all aspects, whether it be pricing, whether it be labour they can say I observe the code of conduct and become a part of the Swarna Adarsh Abhiyan network.
We also have a Self Regulatory Organization (SRO) which will promote the designs and products of retailers through advertisement. The SRO will also provide training for local retailers to promote their products, he added.
He said, we have already met 25 retailers and visited many shops here in Agartala since we arrived on Thursday and they all are interested.
