In its bid to place North East India at the center of growth and development of the country, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (M-DoNER) launched a “one-stop solution” web portal for career and livelihood titled “Advancing North East”.
Available at domain www.advancingnortheast.in, the portal is funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DoNER and developed by the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi).
The portal was inaugurated by President of India, Ram Nath Kovind on May 4, 2022 during the valedictory ceremony of the North East Festival organized by the Ministry of DoNER in its celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The portal aims to facilitate informed career decisions by the students, job seekers and entrepreneurs of the North Eastern region and to improve their competitiveness at the national and global levels.
The event was also graced by the first lady of India Savita Kovind, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of DoNER G Kishan Reddy, Governors and Chief Ministers of Northeastern States, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of DoNER B L Verma, senior officials of the Central and State Governments and eminent personalities of North East.
The portal will act as a virtual mentor in the field of Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship. Ideated during the 65th Plenary Session of NEC where Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi urged NEC to act as State of Art Resource Centre for the region, the web portal aims to increase employability and develop entrepreneurship in the region by educating the youth with emerging opportunities and connecting them with the support ecosystem.
The portal also promotes and celebrates success stories of the region and acts as a Centre of Knowledge Sharing among entrepreneurs, mentors, industry experts, and youths. A true example of being “Vocal for Local”, the portal is designed and developed by the experts and talents based in the North-Eastern region.
