Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday termed India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a ‘befitting response’ to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, and to other similar acts of terrorism on Indian soil. The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing the media on the sidelines of an official event.

In his statement, CM Saha highlighted that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was a meticulously planned operation aimed at targeting terrorist training camps and launchpads located in Pakistan. He emphasized that the operation had been conducted with precision to ensure that no civilian lives or habitations were harmed.
‘We have reports of some deaths. PM Narendra Modi does what he says. We stand firmly with him. We express solidarity with the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and all Indian forces,’ CM Saha remarked. His statement reflects the widespread support from the state government for the central leadership and the armed forces in their resolute action against terrorism.
Commenting on Bangladesh’s stance regarding ‘Operation Sindoor’, the Chief Minister pointed out that the neighbouring country has so far not issued any formal statement on the matter. He recalled that Bangladesh had condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, indicating a shared stance against terrorism. ‘So let’s see what they say,’ CM Saha added, underlining the importance of diplomatic ties amid security operations.
Tripura, which shares an 856-kilometer-long international border with Bangladesh, is strategically significant in the context of regional security and bilateral relations. CM Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, did not shy away from criticizing Pakistan, asserting that while the neighboring country officially disapproves of terrorism, its actions often contradict its claims. ‘PM Modi has said we shall not excuse anyone, and we are with him,’ he reiterated, affirming the state’s alignment with the central government’s stance.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had earlier briefed the media about the objectives and outcomes of ‘Operation Sindoor’, emphasizing that the operation was a decisive response to repeated terror strikes on Indian soil. CM Saha echoed this sentiment, stating that ‘it is high time to give a befitting response’ and assuring that such responses will continue in the future if provocations persist. ‘Enough is enough,’ he declared.
Supporting the military action, Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu also lauded the armed forces, saying that those who look at India with ‘evil eyes’ and seek to disrupt peace will not be allowed to go unpunished. He affirmed that India is prepared to handle any retaliatory actions from Pakistan. ‘Operation Sindoor targeted hideouts where terrorists were trained. If that country retaliates, we are also prepared for it,’ the Governor stated.
To ensure national readiness, the Central government has instructed the conduct of mock drills across the country. Governor Nallu emphasized the significance of these drills, stating that public participation is crucial to the nation’s collective security. He noted that these preparedness measures, such as operationalizing air raid warning systems and testing communication networks, are not acts of fear but demonstrations of commitment to safeguarding the nation.
Recalling his own experiences during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, the Governor shared memories of drills and air raid warnings during his student days, highlighting the importance of readiness in times of conflict. ‘Preparedness is not an act of fear but a testimony to commitment to protect every life,’ he stated.
Operation Sindoor has undoubtedly marked a critical point in India’s fight against terrorism. As the country braces for potential repercussions, the central and state leaderships remain aligned in their stance, prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty at all costs.
