The Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) commemorated its 16th foundation day with a series of events . The celebrations commenced on Tuesday morning at the Dasharath Deb Smriti Bhavan in Supari Bagan, Agartala, where party leaders, members, and supporters gathered in large numbers.
The event began with the ceremonial hoisting of the party flag by IPFT president Prem Kumar Reang,.
Addressing the gathering, Reang reflected on the party’s journey since its inception, emphasizing the IPFT’s role as a voice for the indigenous people of Tripura. He reminded the audience that the IPFT is a key member of both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), playing a vital role in regional and national politics. Reang paid tribute to the party’s founders, Harinath Debbarma and Shyama Charan Tripura, who established the IPFT with a vision to safeguard the rights and welfare of Tripura’s indigenous communities.
He elaborated on the party’s core ideologies, which include Tripuri nationalism, regionalism, opposition to immigration, and anti-communism. Reang highlighted how these principles have shaped the party’s policies and actions over the years, helping to address the challenges faced by the indigenous population.
Minister Shukla Charan Noatia also took the stage to recount the party’s history and its achievements. He urged party members and supporters to remain united and focused on the party’s mission, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to achieve greater goals in the future. Noatia highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the IPFT to uplift the indigenous communities and called for continued dedication and hard work.
Throughout the event, party leaders discussed the IPFT’s accomplishments over the past 16 years, including significant milestones in advocating for the rights of the indigenous people.
