Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar is expected to visit Tripura to address a public gathering organized by the party in Agartala on March 11. This information was shared by the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President, Asish Kumar Saha, during an interaction with the media at Khowai on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters, Saha revealed that several senior leaders from Delhi are likely to arrive in the state to participate in the event. “Senior leaders from Delhi are set to arrive here in our state to address the party’s mass gathering scheduled on March 11. Most probably, senior Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar will address the public meeting at Agartala,” he said. Kanhaiya Kumar currently holds the position of All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party.

During the press meet, Saha launched a fierce criticism of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura, accusing it of curbing citizens’ rights and freedoms since coming to power. He expressed concern over what he described as deliberate attempts by the BJP to disturb the state’s communal harmony. “Ever since the BJP came to power in Tripura, rights and liberties of citizens of the state are under attack. The most disturbing aspect of the BJP government is the repeated attempts to disrupt the communal harmony and peace of the state. As an opposition party, we have been fighting those evil designs and we will keep raising our voice,” Saha stated firmly.

Saha also briefed the media about the Congress party’s ongoing organizational activities in the state. He informed that the party had successfully conducted conferences of all its frontal wings and cells by February 20. These meetings were part of a broader strategy to rejuvenate the party at the grassroots level ahead of the March 11 rally.

He further mentioned that during these conferences, grassroots-level workers had conveyed their concerns and the real situation on the ground to the state leadership. “In those conferences, the grassroots level workers have made the state leadership aware of the situation on the ground. We will now strategically go forward with those issues to mount pressure on the government,” Saha added, signaling the party’s plan to escalate its campaign against the BJP-led state government.
