As part of India’s continued efforts under Operation Sindoor and in line with India’s principled and resolute stance against terrorism, seven all-party delegations comprising Members of Parliament are in different countries with their outreach programme.
The delegations are conveying India’s strong message of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The Shashi Tharoor-led delegation reached Brasilia today for an official visit to Brazil. The delegation was received at the airport by Chargé d’Affaires Sandeep Kumar Kujur. Mr Tharoor said they are looking forward to having solid constructive discussions in Brazil.
During the visit, the delegation will engage with senior Brazilian leaders and Parliamentarians, including Head Adviser to the President, Celso Amorim, Secretary General of Foreign Affairs, Maria Laura da Rocha, among others.
The all party delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde is in Liberia. During their three day stay at Monrovia, Liberia, the delegation will be meeting with the President of Liberia, Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House), President Pro-Tempore of the Senate (Upper House), Foreign Affairs Minister of Liberia as well as leading think tanks and representatives of the media. Talking to media, Mr Shinde said India and Liberia have good bilateral relationship and expressed confidence that Liberia will appreciate the message of India on zero tolerance against terrorism.
The all-party delegation led by JDU MP, Sanjay Kumar Jha reached Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today after concluding a successful visit to Indonesia. The delegation will meet with Malaysian Ministers, Members of Parliament, representatives of think-tanks, academia, media and Indian community to convey India’s national consensus and collective resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Delegation members paid a solemn tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Indian Culture Centre at Brickfields. They also interacted with Indian National Army veteran S.P. Narayanasamy who was part of the Balak Sena of INA. The delegation thanked Mr. Narayanasamy for his solidarity against the menace of terrorism.
In Algeria, the all party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda briefed the Algerian media, members of think tanks, a cross- section of Indian diaspora, and friends of India in Algeria on the global menace of terrorism. Senior officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of Algeria graced the occasion. After the briefing and interaction, tributes were paid to the innocent victims of Pahalgam Terrorist Attack by observing a minute of silence and laying wreath.
The delegation of MPs led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad has reached London. The delegation is on a visit to the UK till 3rd of this month, with a mission to convey India’s unequivocal commitment to defeat terrorism. During their course of stay, the delegation will meet Speaker of the House of Commons, Lindsey Hoyle, members of both Houses of the UK Parliament and important representatives from media, think tanks and Indian diaspora.
The all-party delegation led by DMK MP K Kanimozhi has reached Madrid. Over the next two days, the delegation will meet with members of the Spanish government, the Indian diaspora and civil society representatives to present India’s stance of zero tolerance for terrorism.
The all-party delegation led by NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule which is currently on a visit to Ethiopia, held interaction and discussions with top Ethiopian lawmakers, dignitaries, African Union Commission. During the meetings, the delegation members underscored the continued threat of cross-border terrorism and deliberate attempts to sow social discord in India.
They highlighted that Operation Sindoor, conducted by India in response, was calibrated, targeted and proportionate, demonstrating India’s commitment to countering terrorism without escalating tensions. The Ethiopian side emphasised its own zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and condemned the terrorist act committed on 22 April against innocent citizens. They also had an interaction with an Indian community based in Ethiopia.
