After Narkelkunja, tourism facilities are now being developed in five other Islands of the Dumboor region to attract more tourists, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
Deb said, five among the 48 Islands in Dumboor region excluding Narkelkunja have been identified for developing various facilities including adventure tourism and beautification.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a programme followed by inauguration of a newly-built helipad at Narkelkunja in presence of Tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy and MP Rebati Tripura on Thursday.
He said the government planned to construct Helipad in eight more tourist spots and already discussed the plan with the union Civil Aviation minister. Once green signal is received from the Ministry, the eight helipads would be constructed at an expenditure of Rs. 64 crore.
Meanwhile, now the tourists can enjoy a comfy journey to Narkelkunja, one of the most attractive tourist destinations of Tripura, as helicopter service has been launched on Thursday.
The newly-introduced helicopter service would help the travelers explore the scenic beauty of the Dumboor Lake, Deb added.
The Tourism minister said, “works already started for 23 Log Huts at Narkelkunja to attract more tourists. Among them, 10 Log Huts will soon be handed over to the Tourism department.”
The lake, situated on the confluence of rivers Raima and Saima, has a total of 48 islets surrounded by green hills; it is also the abode of the state’s prized spectacular langur.
The government has already initiated multiple plans to develop Narkelkunja as a preferred tourist destination. Earlier, the Tourism department introduced facilities like Speed Boat, Jet Ski (water scooter) ride and floating jetty at Narkelkunja to attract the tourists.
