On the occasion of the completion of two years of the BJP-led Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Mayor Dipak Majumder asserted that the municipal body has been working diligently with specific targets, promising the residents a transformed capital city within the next three years. A commemorative program was organized at Ward No 7 on Tuesday, where the Mayor engaged with the local community, joined by Corporators Jaya Dhanuk, Hiralal Debnath, and other dignitaries.
Addressing reporters, Mayor Dipak Majumder reflected on the achievements of the AMC during its two-year tenure. He expressed satisfaction with the work done, emphasizing that the municipal body had set clear targets and, with the collaboration of the entire AMC team, endeavored to meet the demands of city dwellers. The Mayor highlighted the successful resolution of issues such as drainage, road infrastructure, street lighting, and waterlogging.
In an effort to keep the public informed, Mayor Majumder announced plans to distribute report cards to every household under the AMC. These report cards will outline the specific accomplishments of the Agartala Municipal Corporation over the past two years, along with detailing future plans for the city.
Responding to allegations from the opposition regarding mosquito breeding issues, the Mayor dismissed them as baseless. He asserted that the AMC has taken proactive measures to address the problem, ensuring regular cleaning of drains and the use of mosquito repellent sprays to mitigate the risk of diseases like Dengue and Malaria.
Mayor Majumder took the opportunity to criticize the previous administration led by the CPIM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) in the AMC. He claimed that the CPIM had failed to make any significant improvements for the city and its residents. According to Majumder, the positive changes witnessed in the city have occurred since the BJP came to power in 2018.
As a gesture of community engagement, the Mayor concluded the program by distributing bed covers among the needy individuals in the area, highlighting a commitment to both civic development and social welfare initiatives.
