The Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, addressed the inaugural session of a seminar titled ‘One Earth- One Health: Advantage Healthcare India 2023’ at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on Wednesday. In his speech, he emphasized the need for setting up world-class Yoga and Ayurveda schools in the state, with a view to utilizing trade opportunities with South East Asia.
Dr. Saha said that Tripura would become the gateway to South East Asia once the India-Bangladesh Maitri Setu in Sabroom becomes operational. He added that the state would have huge trade opportunities, and therefore it was important to develop world-class health infrastructures, such as Yoga and Ayurveda schools and an Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing unit, in the state.
The Chief Minister pointed out that a good number of people from Bangladesh visit Tripura for medical purposes, and if world-class health infrastructures are developed in the state, it would be largely beneficial for the people of Tripura and Bangladesh. He proposed that a border multi-specialty Ayush Hospital may be set up in the state, as the Ayush health service is popular among the people of Bangladesh.
Dr. Saha said that the state government has been working with a progressive policy to develop the state healthcare services. He also highlighted the need for greater cooperation between the government and private sector in order to achieve this goal.
The two-day seminar was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Ramang, NITI Aayog member Dr. V.K. Paul, joint managing director of Apollo Hospitals Group Dr. Sangeeta Reddy, and general secretary of FICCI Shailesh Pathak.
The seminar, which was organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), aims to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the healthcare sector in India. It also aims to promote India as a preferred healthcare destination and to highlight the country’s strengths in healthcare delivery, medical value travel, and pharmaceuticals.
