Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte on Sunday said around 8,500 PwD and 80+ voters exercised their democratic through ballot papers from February 9 to 11.

He also said, around 56,000 polling and security personnel and other staff associated with the elections have cast their votes through postal ballots. Sunday was the last day for postal ballot voting.

Addressing a press conference, the CEO said, there are three types of protocols– the protocol of 72 hours would start from Monday. As per the protocol, random checking would take place in hotels, wedding halls and guest houses. Because, any person who is not voter of the concerned constituency would not be allowed to stay there before 48 hours.

The Indo-Bangla international border and the inter-state border with Assam and Mizoram would be sealed from Monday. The contesting candidates have to submit their expenditure reports to the Expenditure Observers on Monday, he said.

He said, the election campaign would come to an end at 4 pm of February 14. Movement of more than five persons together would be restricted after that time.

The CEO also said, the candidates would be allowed to use three vehicles on the day of voting but their vehicles can’t be used for transporting the voters.

He said, there would be voters’ assistance booth near every polling station where the BLOs would be present.

In the press conference, he also appealed to the voters to take part in the Vote Parban and exercise their democratic rights without any fear. 

Meanwhile, based on a request made by the CEO Tripura, the authority of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University, West Bengal has deferred the B.Ed examination to February 18 so that the students from don’t face any problem to cast their votes due to examination. ( Courtesy Tripura Times)
