Only recently Union Home Amit Shah alleged that the TIPRA Motha was having some clandestine under-table understanding with the CPM and Congress. TIPRA Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarma sought to reject the allegations and he claimed that the tribal party was maintaining equidistance from all other parties, and there was no such understanding with the CPM-Congress.
But all of a sudden on Sunday night Pradyot Kishore dropped on the dais of CPM supported Independent candidate at Ramnagar Purushottam Roy Barman and campaigned for him. Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman was also on the dais with him.
With this sudden appearance Pradyot Kishore made it loud and clear that the TIPRA Motha had, indeed, forged some sort of understanding with the CPM-Congress.
The sudden move not only surprised the political activists across the party line, but also triggered new poll speculations.
While the CPM-Congress alliance workers were evidently happy the BJP leaders feel it would only help them garnering more votes on a clearly polarized voting pattern.
The ruling BJP is now ready to use Pradyot Kishore’s visit to CPM supported Independent candidate’s campaign to drive their point that there was indeed an understanding between the TIPRA Motha and CPM -Congress. Their argument is that with having the TIPRA Motha in their side the opposition is giving the impetus to the divisive politics and fuelling communal tension. Union Home Minister Amit Shah already on Sunday itself termed the three -TIPRA Motha, Congress and CPM as the ‘political misfortunes’ ( triple apad).
On the other hand, the CPM-Congress alliance finds it will only help consolidate the opposition votes against the BJP.
Whoever will gain from this political alliance
