Tripura Govt organised a major consultation on the draft AVGC-XR Policy in Agartala to promote digital creativity, gaming, animation, entrepreneurship, skill development, and employment opportunities while positioning the state as an emerging AVGC-XR hub in Northeast India.
The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, organised a stakeholder consultation programme on the draft AVGC-XR Policy in Agartala, bringing together policymakers, industry experts, academicians, entrepreneurs, and representatives from the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality ecosystem.
The consultation programme was organised as part of the state government’s efforts to formulate a comprehensive and future-oriented policy framework aimed at promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, digital creativity, skill development, and employment generation in the AVGC-XR sector. The initiative also reflects the government’s broader vision to strengthen Tripura’s digital economy and establish the state as a growing technology and creative industry destination in Northeast India.
Senior government officials, including Kiran Gitte, attended the programme along with directors from various departments and other dignitaries. The event began with a detailed presentation by Jeya Ragul Geshan B., Director of Information Technology, who outlined the government’s vision for building a vibrant AVGC-XR ecosystem in the state.
During the presentation, he explained the major objectives of the draft policy, proposed interventions, implementation strategies, and priority areas that could support the expansion of the digital creative sector in Tripura. Special focus was placed on talent development, entrepreneurship promotion, industry collaboration, digital content creation, and employment opportunities for local youth.
Addressing the gathering, Kiran Gitte highlighted the progress made by Tripura in the field of information technology and digital governance over recent years. He noted that the state has witnessed steady growth in digital infrastructure, technological adoption, capacity-building initiatives, and innovation-driven administrative reforms. According to officials, the AVGC-XR Policy is expected to further accelerate these developments by creating new opportunities for startups, creators, and technology-driven enterprises.
The consultation programme featured several technical and sectoral sessions led by experts from prominent institutions and industry organisations. National Institute of Design expert Austin Davis shared insights into design innovation and the growing relevance of the AVGC-XR sector in India’s creative economy. Manvendra Shukul also addressed the gathering and participated in discussions with industry stakeholders on the future prospects of the sector.
Another important session was conducted by Saikat Roy from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. He spoke about the changing landscape of media and entertainment and highlighted emerging opportunities in animation, visual effects, gaming, and immersive technologies.
The programme also featured a dedicated session on entrepreneurship and startup development within the AVGC sector. Anurag Khurana, founder of New Gen Gaming, and Vishal Parekh, founder of Cyber Power, shared their entrepreneurial experiences and discussed business growth, innovation strategies, and market opportunities within the rapidly expanding AVGC-XR industry.
Participants also engaged in an open forum discussion that focused on the key priorities of the draft policy. Discussions centred on how the proposed framework could generate meaningful employment opportunities, encourage youth-led innovation, strengthen startup culture, and support culturally rooted digital content creation in Tripura.
Officials stated that the consultation programme served as an important collaborative platform for gathering suggestions and improving the overall policy design. The government aims to ensure that the final AVGC-XR Policy remains inclusive and responsive to the needs of industry professionals, students, academic institutions, creators, and citizens.

The proposed policy is expected to complement other recent initiatives such as the Tripura Startup Policy 2024 and the Tripura Cybersecurity Policy 2025. Through these combined initiatives, the Directorate of Information Technology aims to position Tripura as an emerging AVGC-XR destination in Northeast India while supporting inclusive economic growth under the broader vision of the orange economy.
