AGMC introduces endocrinology OPD services and revises cardiology schedule from May 11, 2026. New timings, special Saturday clinics, and expanded super-speciality care aim to improve patient access and streamline healthcare services in Tripura.
Agartala’s premier government hospital is set to expand access to specialized care with a major restructuring of its outpatient services. Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital has announced the launch of endocrinology outpatient department (OPD) services for the first time, marking a significant step toward comprehensive super-speciality healthcare in the state.
According to an official order issued by Medical Superintendent Dr. Bidhan Goswami, the revised OPD schedule will come into effect from May 11, 2026. The changes aim to streamline patient flow while broadening access to critical disciplines such as cardiology and endocrinology.
Under the new arrangement, Dr. Mukut Roy will attend patients in the cardiology OPD on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm at the super-speciality building. On other working days, he will provide medical services in the endocrinology and general medicine departments, alongside attending emergency duties as required.
The cardiology OPD schedule has also been reorganized to function on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, excluding holidays, during the same hours. Notably, Saturdays will host dedicated special clinics focusing on pediatric cardiology and peripheral arterial diseases, addressing specific patient needs that previously required referrals outside the state.
Hospital authorities indicated that the inclusion of endocrinology services is expected to benefit patients dealing with hormonal and metabolic disorders, including diabetes and thyroid conditions, which have seen a steady rise in recent years. The move is also expected to reduce patient load in general medicine by diverting specialized cases to focused departments.
