In Men’s Cricket, India beat host Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first Test of the two-match series in Galle today. India now leads 1-nil in the series. Chasing a target of 372, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 206 in 77.4 overs during the post-lunch session, handing India a comfortable victory.
For India, Manav Suthar took six wickets, Prasidh Krishna took 2 while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj took one each. For Sri Lanka, Captain Dhananjaya de Silva fought hard with a 151-ball 59, while Sonal Dinusha followed up his first-innings century with an 84.
Earlier, India were bowled out for 193 in their second innings, setting a target of 372 runs for Sri Lanka. Rishabh Pant led the scoring with a quickfire 66 off 69 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes. His innings also saw him become the first Indian batter to reach 100 sixes in Test cricket. Devdutt Padikkal scored 44, while KL Rahul contributed 35.
