Tripura CM Manik Saha intensifies ADC poll campaign, targeting Tipra Motha’s governance failures while promoting BJP’s development agenda, transparency, and tribal welfare. Rising defections, corruption allegations, and focus on stability shape the high-stakes TTAADC election battle.
As the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections draw closer, the political atmosphere across the state is becoming increasingly charged. Chief Minister Manik Saha has launched a vigorous campaign, positioning the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the symbol of development, transparency, and stability, while directly challenging the track record of Tipra Motha.
The campaign formally gained momentum on Wednesday with the launch of the BJP’s election vehicle from the party’s state headquarters. Addressing party workers and supporters, the Chief Minister criticized Tipra Motha, alleging that the party has failed to deliver meaningful progress in the tribal council areas despite holding influence in the past. He claimed that the TTAADC has long suffered from what he termed “muscle power politics” and emotional narratives, which, according to him, have hindered real development.
Saha emphasized that the BJP’s campaign would focus on raising awareness about central and state welfare schemes that have not fully reached tribal communities. He argued that a lack of information and effective implementation has prevented beneficiaries from accessing crucial government support. Highlighting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saha said that tribal welfare has been a priority at the national level, and the state government is committed to aligning with that vision.
In a significant political claim, the Chief Minister pointed to a growing trend of leaders from Tipra Motha joining the BJP, suggesting a shift in public and political sentiment. He described this as a sign that voters and grassroots leaders are increasingly favoring a governance model centered on infrastructure development, welfare delivery, and accountability.
Saha also raised allegations of corruption within the autonomous council, promising that a BJP-led administration would ensure transparency and responsible governance. He contrasted his party’s approach with what he described as years of stagnation under both Tipra Motha and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), asserting that the BJP represents a new phase of progress-oriented leadership.
Addressing concerns over recent violence in the region, including an attack on a minister’s vehicle, the Chief Minister attributed such incidents to political frustration among opposition groups. He assured that law enforcement agencies are vigilant and prepared to take strict action to maintain peace. “Stability and security are essential for development,” Saha remarked, underlining the importance of a peaceful environment for the success of welfare initiatives.
As the campaign trail intensifies, Saha reiterated that the BJP’s objective goes beyond electoral victory. He framed the upcoming election as an opportunity to bring long-term transformation to the TTAADC region, focusing on inclusive growth, infrastructure expansion, and improved quality of life for tribal communities.
