Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of their Statehood Days, applauding the states for their cultural richness, scenic beauty, and significant contributions to India’s development journey.

In separate posts on X, the Prime Minister underscored the distinctive identities of both northeastern states, highlighting their heritage, community spirit, and role in strengthening the nation.

Praise for Mizoram’s Cultural Spirit and Natural Beauty

Extending greetings to Mizoram, PM Modi described the state as widely known for its striking natural beauty and enduring cultural traditions. He noted that the strong community spirit and gracious people of Mizoram embody values of kindness and compassion, which stand as a shining example for the rest of the country.

“The rich Mizo heritage, expressed through tradition, music, and other aspects of everyday life, is very inspiring,” the Prime Minister wrote. He expressed hope that Mizoram would continue to advance on the path of growth and achieve new milestones in the years ahead.

Mizoram attained full statehood on February 20, 1987, marking a historic milestone in its political and developmental journey. Since then, the state has made notable progress in sectors such as education, infrastructure, and rural development while preserving its unique cultural identity.

Arunachal Pradesh Hailed for Diversity and Determination

In his message for Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi conveyed warm wishes to the people of the frontier state, describing it as blessed with majestic landscapes and extraordinary cultural diversity. He praised the state as a shining example of harmony between tradition and nature.

The Prime Minister highlighted the spirited and industrious citizens of Arunachal Pradesh, stating that they play a vital role in strengthening national progress. He also emphasized that the state’s diverse tribal ethos adds immense richness to India’s cultural fabric.

“May the state continue to scale new heights of development in the times to come,” he added, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to the growth of the northeastern region.

Arunachal Pradesh also achieved statehood on February 20, 1987, after transitioning from the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) to a Union Territory in 1972, and eventually to a full-fledged state. Over the decades, it has emerged as a strategically significant and culturally vibrant part of India.

Amit Shah Extends Greetings

Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined in extending Statehood Day greetings to both states. In his message for Arunachal Pradesh, he prayed for the continued progress of the state while nurturing its rich cultural heritage and natural endowments.

For Mizoram, Shah conveyed warm wishes to the sisters and brothers of the state, expressing hope that it would continue its journey of peace, progress, and prosperity.

His remarks reflected the Centre’s consistent emphasis on maintaining peace and accelerating development in the Northeast, a region that has witnessed renewed policy focus in recent years.

Kiren Rijiju Highlights Historical Journey

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also marked the occasion with messages celebrating the historical evolution and resilience of the northeastern states.

For Arunachal Pradesh, Rijiju recalled the state’s journey from NEFA to Union Territory in 1972 and eventually achieving statehood in 1987. He described this transformation as a reflection of resilience and determination, expressing hope that the proud chapter would continue to guide the state towards greater progress, unity, and success.
