DEAA finalises detailed plans for the Alumni Meet 2026, confirming dates, registration guidelines, committees, awards, and event logistics during its General Body meeting in Agartala. Key resolutions aim to ensure smooth coordination and large-scale alumni participation.

The Department of Economics Alumni Association (DEAA) has officially laid out a comprehensive roadmap for the much-anticipated Alumni Meet 2026 during its General Body meeting held on Saturday at Jogesh Mansion, Post Office Chowmuhani, Agartala. The meeting, chaired by DEAA president Jahar Debbarma, brought together alumni, faculty members, and committee representatives to discuss key organisational priorities and finalize decisions related to the upcoming event.

The session began with DEAA Secretary Manidip Roy presenting a brief overview of the three-point agenda encompassing the organisation of the Alumni Meet 2026, progress on the registration of the Alumni Association, and various miscellaneous matters. After a thorough and detailed deliberation, the house unanimously adopted several crucial resolutions to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event.

One of the major highlights was the confirmation of the date and venue for the Alumni Meet 2026. The General Body announced that the event will be held on Sunday, 4 January 2026, as scheduled by the Department of Economics at Tripura University. The programme will take place at Academic Building–3, commencing at 10 AM onwards, marking yet another significant gathering of former students returning to their alma mater.

DEAA also outlined the registration procedure for alumni intending to participate in the meet. Members must complete their registration through a designated Google Form and pay a fee of Rs. 200, with 20 December 2025 set as the final submission date. The Association has also encouraged voluntary contributions above the registration fee to support the event’s arrangements and overall execution.

In addition to alumni participation, the invitation will be extended to faculty members, research scholars, and current third-semester students of the Department of Economics. Although invitees will be exempted from the registration fee, third-semester students will still be required to fill out the Google Form by the stipulated deadline to ensure proper logistical planning.

Due to the fact that DEAA has not yet opened its official bank account, the meeting resolved that registration fees and voluntary contributions would be temporarily collected through the personal bank account of Executive Committee member Sukanti Roy. Members were informed that this arrangement is purely temporary and will be discontinued once the Association completes its registration formalities.

To streamline coordination and execution of the large-scale event, the General Body formed multiple committees and sub-committees, each entrusted with specific responsibilities. These include the Organising Committee, Invitation & Reception Committee, Food & Refreshment Committee, Cultural Committee, Award Management Committee, External Fund Raising Committee, Photography & Videography Committee, Media Committee, and Programme Committee. The committees are comprised of faculty members, alumni, and research scholars who will work collaboratively to ensure that every aspect of the event is handled efficiently.

In keeping with commitments made during the Alumni Meet 2025, the Association announced the introduction of awards for toppers in Economics at the PG, UG, and HS levels. The Award Management Sub-Committee has been given the responsibility to prepare operational guidelines for these awards and submit its proposal at the next DEAA meeting. Furthermore, the Association decided to continue the tradition of felicitating Silver Jubilee batches every year. For the 2026 event, the 2000 pass-out batch, along with all earlier batches, will be honoured. To further encourage participation, the meeting approved the arrangement of a bus service from Tripura University to Agartala city throughout the programme.

The house was also updated on the ongoing registration process of the DEAA. Executive members who are government employees have been asked to obtain their No Objection Certificates (NOCs) within one month, a necessary step for completing the registration. Once the formal registration is complete, an official DEAA bank account will be opened in compliance with organizational bylaws.
