Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha says Union Budget 2026–27 prioritises youth, farmers, women and the poor, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat through inclusive growth, employment generation, defence strength and sector-wise development.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday said that the Union Budget 2026–27 places strong emphasis on inclusive and all-round development, with special focus on youth, farmers, women and economically weaker sections of society. He described the budget as a roadmap for a “Viksit Bharat” envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the Budget Yuva Conference organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Pradesh Yuva Morcha in Agartala, the Chief Minister said the Union Budget, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, reflects the Centre’s commitment to balanced growth across sectors such as education, healthcare, defence, infrastructure and employment.

Dr. Saha said the budget underlines the responsibility of every citizen, particularly the youth, to actively participate in nation-building. He highlighted that Nirmala Sitharaman has created history by becoming the only woman Finance Minister to present the Union Budget nine consecutive times, calling it a symbol of women’s leadership in governance.

“This budget reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India by 2047. Every sector has been addressed in a structured and systematic manner. The Union Budget has now been presented around 80 times, and major reforms were introduced after the Railway Budget was merged with the General Budget during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure,” the Chief Minister said.

Explaining the purpose of the budget, Dr. Saha said it outlines the nation’s income and expenditure while identifying priority areas for future growth. He noted that significant allocations have been made to strengthen infrastructure, healthcare services and national security.

“Approximately 15 per cent of the total budget has been allocated to the defence sector this year, which reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening India’s security and self-reliance,” he added.

The Chief Minister highlighted the Prime Minister’s consistent focus on four key pillars of society — youth, farmers, women and the poor. He said that targeted development of these groups would ensure inclusive growth and reduce social divisions.

“Keeping these four sections in mind, several important provisions have been introduced in this year’s budget. With a strong emphasis on employment generation, the budget proposes the creation of nearly 3.5 crore jobs under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana,” Dr. Saha said.

He added that the budget also prioritises farmers’ welfare by ensuring fair prices for agricultural produce, expanding irrigation facilities and strengthening rural and agricultural infrastructure. According to him, such measures would enhance farmers’ income and contribute to long-term food security.

Speaking about the role of young people, the Chief Minister said the youth of India would play a decisive role in achieving the goal of a developed nation by 2047. He urged BJP Yuva Morcha members to work as ambassadors of development and spread awareness about government initiatives at the grassroots level.

“The improvement of people’s quality of life and the country’s economic progress are the core objectives of this budget. Youth power must take responsibility and actively contribute to this national mission,” Dr. Saha said while encouraging party workers at the conference.

The event was attended by BJP State President and Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee, former MP Rebati Tripura, State Yuva Morcha President and MLA Sushanta Deb, along with several senior party leaders, elected representatives and grassroots workers.
