Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha says peace and inclusive development in tribal areas are possible only under BJP rule, urging voters to support a BJP-led government in the upcoming TTAADC elections for stability and growth.

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday asserted that peace, stability, and inclusive development in tribal areas can be ensured only under the governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as the state government remains committed to the socio-economic upliftment of every citizen.

Addressing a BJP organisational participation meeting at the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) headquarters in Khumulwng, Dr. Saha said the present political environment clearly indicates intense competition among political parties to retain or reclaim power, making it crucial to form a strong BJP-led government in the autonomous council in the upcoming elections.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the BJP’s development-oriented approach and focus on transparency have brought visible changes across the state, particularly in tribal and interior regions that had long suffered due to instability and neglect.

“I am deeply encouraged by the large presence of mothers and sisters at today’s meeting. Their participation reflects growing confidence in the BJP. From this gathering, it is evident what the future of the TTAADC will be,” Dr. Saha said.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Chief Minister said the Prime Minister has transformed the political culture of the country by redefining governance through accountability and integrity.

“Prime Minister Modi showed the nation how to run governments at the Centre and in BJP-ruled states with transparency. His commitment to clean governance has created a positive and development-driven environment not only across India but also in Tripura,” he said.

Dr. Saha criticised previous governments, alleging that they misled people and allowed extremism to flourish, which severely hampered development in several regions.

“Earlier regimes remained busy misleading the public. Extremism was allowed to grow, and due to that, development suffered. The BJP brought misguided individuals into the mainstream, restoring peace and stability. Without peace, development is impossible,” he stated.

The Chief Minister said that since assuming power, the BJP government has prioritised development and welfare initiatives, reaching every household irrespective of social or economic background.

“Our government knows how to deliver development. We are working for the socio-economic growth of every individual, ensuring benefits reach people living in the remotest tribal areas,” he added.

Taking a swipe at opposition parties, Dr. Saha remarked that conflicting political claims reflect confusion and desperation to cling to power.

“Some are saying they want 28 seats, others also want 28 seats. That makes 56 seats in total. Such strange and misleading statements expose their confusion,” he said.

Referring to eviction drives in urban areas, the Chief Minister clarified that illegal encroachments were removed in the public interest, as people were facing serious difficulties.

“The government is thinking about rehabilitation for affected families, but some political groups are resorting to hypocrisy and misinformation. During earlier times, violence, terrorism, arson, and crimes against women were rampant, yet those responsible now speak loudly,” he said.

Issuing a stern warning, Dr. Saha said several illegal activities were being carried out in the TTAADC without legal approval and would be exposed at the appropriate time.

“We have information on everything. Illegal village committees were formed without following rules, creating obstacles in village committee elections, which were eventually cancelled. Similarly, confusion was deliberately created regarding the proposed Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat. The truth has now come before the people,” he said.

The Chief Minister reiterated that negative politics cannot serve public interest and that the BJP would continue to prioritise peace, legality, and development in the autonomous council.

“BJP will remove all negative politics and focus on the development of ADC citizens. We must resolve to form a BJP-led government in the TTAADC for peace and inclusive growth,” he added.

The meeting was attended by BJP state president and Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee, state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, former MP Rebati Tripura, Sepahijala district BJP president Biplab Chakraborty, MDC Sanjit Reang, and several senior leaders and party workers.

The election to the 30-member TTAADC is expected to be held in March–April. Currently, the council is governed by the Tipra Motha Party, which has been in power since 2021. The TTAADC covers nearly two-thirds of Tripura’s geographical area and is home to over 12 lakh people, the majority belonging to indigenous communities.

With tribal voters forming nearly one-third of Tripura’s total population, all major political parties have intensified their outreach efforts ahead of the crucial polls.
