Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha says social work is possible without politics, urges Janajati NGOs to shape responsible future generations through education, moral values, and social responsibility, aligning with India’s vision of inclusive development.

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday underscored that meaningful social work can be carried out without engaging in politics, while urging non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to play a decisive role in shaping the next generation into responsible, value-driven citizens.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing an important meeting with representatives of Janajati (tribal) NGOs in Agartala. The meeting focused on the role of voluntary organizations in education, social responsibility, and the overall development of tribal children residing in NGO-run hostels across the state.

Presiding over the meeting, Dr. Saha expressed appreciation for the work being done by voluntary organizations. He said he was pleased to interact with members who are directly contributing to the welfare of society and working for the future of children. He assured that the state government would extend support within its capacity and in line with established rules and regulations.

“The way voluntary organizations are working for the people is truly commendable. You are building the future generation. The government will assist you wherever possible. I will discuss the demands raised here with the Tribal Welfare Minister and concerned officials,” the Chief Minister stated.

Dr. Saha stressed the need to ensure proper care and upbringing of children residing in various hostels run by NGOs. He said there should be no compromise in providing quality education, moral guidance, and a nurturing environment for young students.

“You have a significant role in shaping children into real human beings. At this stage of life, children must be taught proper education, human values, and social responsibility. Social thinking should be instilled in them from an early age,” he added.

Highlighting the importance of social service, the Chief Minister said that children must be raised with a mindset of contributing to society. He pointed out that India’s President, Droupadi Murmu, belongs to the tribal community and is serving the nation with dedication and responsibility, setting a powerful example for young students.

Dr. Saha reiterated that social service does not necessarily require political involvement. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, he said today’s students would play a crucial role in realizing that goal.

“The students of today are the architects of tomorrow’s India. They will benefit from the vision of a developed nation, but they also carry a special responsibility towards society,” he noted.

Describing education as a transformative force, the Chief Minister said education acts as a bridge from darkness to light. He explained that it connects ignorance with knowledge and falsehood with truth, making it essential to combine academic learning with moral and ethical values.

“Education alone is not enough. Along with education, moral values must be imparted so that children grow into responsible and compassionate citizens,” Dr. Saha emphasized.

Representatives from NGOs across different parts of Tripura participated in the meeting and shared their experiences and challenges. According to official information, nearly 20,000 students are currently studying in around 250 NGO-run boarding houses across the state.

In a post-meeting statement, the Chief Minister said the state government has been extending necessary support to these institutions and will continue to work in a more collaborative manner in the future. He urged NGO representatives to work with sensitivity and responsibility while guiding Janajati students.

“Building the careers of our future generations is a shared commitment. Education and infrastructure remain the key pillars of inclusive development. Together, we must work towards building a New Tripura,” Dr. Saha concluded.
