Tripura CM Dr. Saha emphasizes that PM Modi’s initiatives reflect B.R. Ambedkar’s ideals of social equality and empowerment. Speaking on Ambedkar’s 135th birth anniversary, Saha highlighted welfare efforts for Dalits, tribals, and women, urging awareness of Ambedkar’s contributions to India’s development.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted the enduring influence of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on India’s current governance during the 135th Birth Anniversary celebrations of the iconic leader. Speaking at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan on Monday, Saha emphasized that Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and the nation’s first Law Minister, laid the foundation for a socially equal India.
Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, stating that the PM’s policies clearly reflect Ambedkar’s thoughts and ideals. “PM Modi has brought the poor into the banking system to eliminate the need for middlemen. The Mudra Yojana has empowered tribals, scheduled castes, Dalits, and women, enhancing their financial independence. The Prime Minister is also dedicated to making women self-reliant,” he said.
The Chief Minister noted that Tripura, under his leadership, is also actively working to realize Modi’s vision by introducing various welfare schemes aimed at the backward classes, scheduled castes, and Dalits.
Reflecting on Ambedkar’s life, Saha recalled that he was the Law Minister in India’s first Union Cabinet and was instrumental in fighting against hatred, malice, and social discrimination. He noted that despite his immense contribution, Ambedkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 1990, a delay he attributed to the neglect of previous governments.
Saha stressed that Ambedkar’s proposals were crucial in safeguarding fundamental rights and ensuring the financial security of citizens. He also mentioned Ambedkar’s tireless work to eradicate exploitation, superstition, and promote industrial and agricultural development.
“Because of Ambedkar’s pioneering efforts, we are today living in a society striving for equality and justice,” Saha stated. He urged the youth to learn more about Ambedkar’s contributions to ensure that future generations remain aware of India’s historical journey towards social equity.
The seminar was attended by several prominent figures, including BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Rajib Bhattacharjee, Paschim Tripura Zilla Sabhadhipati in charge Biswajit Shil, West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, and Director of the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department Jayanta Dey.
