Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) have recorded strong growth in Credit Delivery, with gross loans outstanding increased by 10.3 percent during 2025-26. Ministry of Finance noted that gross loans outstanding of RRBs increased from around 5.24 thousand crore rupees in 2024-25 to over 5.78 thousand crore rupees in 2025-26.
The Ministry said that the Regional Rural Banks have continued to strengthen their role in promoting rural economic development and financial inclusion by expanding credit delivery and maintaining a strong focus on Priority Sector Lending (PSL). It said that almost all RRBs achieved the overall PSL target, reflecting the RRBs’ focus on supporting priority sectors and advancing financial inclusion. The Ministry noted that RRBs also extended credit of 3.49 lakh crore rupees to weaker sections, reaffirming their commitment to financial inclusion and equitable access to institutional credit.
